I was operated on of my Rhinoplasty surgery October the 24th . The operation came out nicely, with local anesthesia with local sedation. It lasted 3 hours 20 minutes. 70 stitches where placed in my nose, which the Dr said some would came out, others would be absorbed by the body, as they are made of intestinal parts of I don’t know which animal. Before the operation they gave an injection of methyl prednisolone 40 mg.
After my operation I am takinkg Cefuroxime 1 tablet every 12 hours. Claritin every 12 hours. Loxomac 1 pill every 12 hours. and several nose sprays :oxymetazoline 1 spray every 4 hours. saline solutinon every 4 hours Rhinocort Aqua spray every 12 hours (budesonide)

Well after one month on the the cartilages used for the graft of the nose started bending to the center of my nostrill.

The Dr . prescribed calcort 2 pills of 30 mg , and afraid of messing up my inmunee system only took one. Lucky me, just with one pill my face wad swollen up, " moon face they call it "Came  back with the dr. at that point the dr told me my nose was all infected and the one of the sutures was infected and therefor the graft was bending. I needed to be operate on right away-

Second operation (Dec 4th) they cleaned up the infection injected me with many antibiotics, (amikacin, cefelexime) and gave me Levaquin (levofloxacin ) for 15 days, this time they used permanet sutures to avoid infections the DR said some of the sutures he would take away and others the body would get rid of them some how , they used polypropylene sutures.

Was fine for the 15 days, then I came down with a nasty cold , maybe the flu
my nose was running so much I wooul use a box of kleenex every 5 hours.
The runny nose did never go away now after nearly 1 month ; I have been with first with 10 days of Cefuroxime  500 mg every 12 hours, did not work well, and then used Suprex 400 mg once a day for 10 days (Cefixime) still runny nose.

I had a regular blood test and my leucocites came back with 6700, my Aids Dr told me you should have your cd 4 way up there becuse last time you had 3400 leucocites and 599 CD4.

He told me to use cortizone sprays, since he thaught the runny nose was dur to inflamation of the Sinus  and turbinates follwing the operations.

Antihistamines dont seem to work well only in masive amounts they help a bit ( 3 or 4 times regular dosages )

I did not take the cortizone as I blame it for the terrible outcome of the first operation.

I have had sex 3 or 4 times, eacht time I take viagra , my nose is so stuffed upp ( side of effect of Viagra)  and after that my nose becomes even wetter than before.

Had sex again last friday, again terrible running nose and i think i am getting another cold. I have a very low fever 98 , but ussualy my body temperature is 97, and when I take paracetamol I start sueding.

I will ask the dr to have a nasopharyngeal culture to see if I have an infection, or what is going on with me.

At some plastic surgery sites they say the runny nose can last for months , even 1.5 years.
I dont know what else to do. I am tired to have a runny nose and having sinus issues after having sex, and just plain fast kisses, not oral sex.

I am afraid my sutures are infected again.

Any advice? Please

I think you should be discussing these issues with your doctor.  Nobody here knows your medical history, nor why you might be experiencing problems.

One suggestion though, please break up your post into smaller paragraphs, as it makes it easier to read and follow.

Also, this has nothing to do with HIV, so hopefully it will be moved to the Off Topic forum.

Joe
