why I Cant trust ELISA test. Been here for 2 years and half
« on: September 13, 2007, 12:52:19 pm »
Dear All visitors of the forum. I know its not nice to post here, after a few discussions on the forum, but Im still here with the same story, as my symptoms have not resolved and I still dont trust ELISA tests. Yes, once it has happened apart from HIV1--HIV2 appeared, which was not possible to test on normal that time available test systems, then a few more strains appeared, which were also hard to test.
I have been to the doctors, but they cant say much, as this is a very young infection.
I strongly believe in mutations and evolution, but no help at all. The only thing Im waiting for my CD4 counts test results, the very first CD4 result was 496 and 30% after the contact.
Thanks for patience and understanding

kvn,

What are you trying to say/ask?

The hiv ELISA tests are very reliable. If you had reason to take an hiv test and you took the test three months after the incident, a negative test would be reliable and conclusive.

If you had a positive result, it should have been confirmed with a Western Blot test.

Can you give us more information so we can understand what you're talking about?

Kvn,

I'd also like to know what you mean when you say you've been here for 2 and a half years. Do you have another account with us?

Also, if you've been testing negative for two and a half years, that means you don't have hiv. Period.

Yes, I have been here fora while and I saw the many argues about the reliability of this test and apart from that, this also mentioned on your website, about the strains and subtypes. I have been tested a few times all the time negative, but feel very bad from time to time after that contact, developing very bad kind of brain fog, or whatever its called and having enlarged lymphonodes, been to the doctor he admitted they were enlarged, but said, that if test was negative he couldnt say much.

Just because you haven't had a diagnostic explanation of your swollen glands and anything else that's troubling you does not invalidate your HIV test results.

You don't have to believe the result if you choose not to. There's nothing we can do about that.

Pursue the matter as you will. In our experience an HIV test taken at 13 weeks or more after a possible exposure will yield a reliable result except in situations where IV drug use or a severely depleted immune system such as from cancer treatment is involved.

Period.

Your move.

You're free to think and to worry and wonder as you wish to. Nothing we can do or help you with about that beyond what you've already been told.

Its not to offend, but then you shouldn't misguide visitors of the forum. You know yourself its true what I said, don't you?

kvn,

Keep working with your doctor to discover the cause of your discomfort. You have ruled hiv out. You do not have hiv.

You will not be allowed to use this forum to continually question your hiv negative test results. Helping you to accept your negative hiv status is outside our remit, sorry.
