Title: AMG Mexico City?
Post by: Ric Wilke on May 05, 2008, 10:13:08 pm
Dearest Forum Friends,

We are more than a little concerned about how this beloved event is progressing.  We have a wonderful hotel venue for the event but have not been advised that the hotel is ready to accept our reservations.

Thom and I cannot lock in $900+ in travel costs without this very important part of our itinerary.  We may be forced to withdraw from this year's event.

Mr Coordinator, please advise us on the current status.

With love and respect to all,

Ric & Thom

Hi Ric

I can understand your concerns but if you can bear with us just for a couple of days then we will (hopefully) come up with a solution to this...I will not let you and Thom miss out on this if I can help it.

love and hugs always

Dear Dame Jan,

We are hanging in there.  Spending time with you is . . . oh well, what can we say?

Hugs dear Lady,

R&T

Guys,

I understand your concern and frustration!  I'm doing the best that I can.  Please realize that we are dealing with a different culture;  One that isn't as fast paced as ours, I would imagine.  I have been promised the group will be setup in the system by Thursday.

As I advised in a previous post, the hotel is ours at the contracted rate I posted.  Please do not let this delay in reserving your room prevent you from finalizing your other travel elements.

In the meantime, there are other items of concern that have not received the attention from the group at large.  First, there have barely been any song suggestions for this years CD.  2nd, there has been no input regarding this years t-shirt.

This lack of participation worries me as I have blocked 25 rooms based on last years attendance as well as prior participation in this years destination vote.  This is a large corporate hotel and I have signed a contract with the stipulation that at least 90% of these rooms will be sold.  If not, I risk a hefty penalty.

Also, several members originally offered their assistance in the planning of this years event.  I have sent them private messages and have received not one reply.  As I have always said, "this is your event."  I can't do it by myself.  Know is the time to step up to the plate if this years event is going to be successfull.

Thanks
Dennis

Dennis...Thanks again for the hard and difficult work you are doing and your explanation of the delay is quite understandable...There is no way that you or any one person should be held responsible for a monetary penalty...That, if there is one at all, should come out of our existing funds first and foremost though I realize that is not the intention of the generous contributors, but after all why should you pay?

I think when we set our minds to it all the rooms will somehow get booked and enthusiasm willl pick up when we are all booked to go.

Keep on truckin' and thanks again.

I am fairly new to the Forum here, so I am not sure what this AMG is all about.  It gets pretty frustrating for me when acronyms don't have an explanation at some earlier point in a conversation.  I was thinking about going to the International Aids Conference and this seems to be right after it.  I might stick around if it is something I would be interested in participating in.  Thanks, Dennis N.  dpnicely@gmail.com

AMG = AIDS MEDS GATHERING.

People from around the world who participate in this forum site gather in one city (different location every year) for fun and fellowship.  The core "activities" (socials, group events) usually spread out over 3-4 days, though some people come early or stay later and make a week out of it.
