a whole lot of peer support.
-ugh. health care in America sucks.....and that's when you have access to it. and mental health care is bad too...even when you have limited access to it.

some American politics and European culture
-a lot of racism and a lot of tribalism going on these days.

a mix of LTS chat and discussions about simply living with HIV for a long time.
-thank goodness, the old days are the "OLD" days, amirite? ;D

laughs and good times all around, like usual.  ;)  ;D ;D

HIV Stigma & studies study under healthcare providers outcome
I know I commented about this report in the other thread; but thanks for sharing that. The whole thing was really interesting. Quite frankly, I think the reason I trusted the results and liked it so much was because of some of the "bad" responses. If the results had been that everyone was hunky-dory with all things HIV, I'd have known the study didn't ask the right questions, didn't question enough people, or wasn't confidential enough that people could honestly answer. The results though show what PLHIV know: outside of HIV clinics, healthcare professional aren't very knowledgeable about HIV; some healthcare personnel are under-educated in general about cleanliness and precautions much less HIV; and some are just bigoted jerks.

Spiders.
Ick. ick. ick.
Our property backs up to some woods with a small creek running along the side. I run into spiders and webs all the damn time! After we left our call today, the doggos wanted out and I wanted to smoke. 8) Stepping on the deck by the pool, I ran through a spiderweb - and the large writing spider I knocked loose ran across my head. :o :o :o But, no bites and only one manly scream as I thrashed about to knock the spider off. No neighbors were around (and I'll leave the screaming part out when I tell this story to Larry. LOL) so it was all good.

Indeed. I also thought it was very interesting and that it confirmed the experiences PLHIV have flagged for years when dealing with non-HIV specific healthcare providers, some of them are horribly outdated although somewhat understandable and at the end of the day healthcare providers are just people, and some people are just assholes.

And Xena, Warrior Princess
"In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle. The power, the passion, the danger. Her courage will change the world!"

So you've seen my Xena a few times (blk/wht border collie/spaniel mix); but this is the old gang (my second pack of cockers). That's Gabrielle, Joxer (OMG, the doggo was a doofus but super sweet), Zeus and Aries.

That's me at the pool in Ohio back in the early-00s, barely not dying of AIDS with my dyed-red hair. lolz
and Joxer, Aries, Zeus and Gabby way back in the back not caring about whatever the boyz are doing. LOL

Yeah, it's been a while. Plenty going on, including that I had my balls fondled by a stranger last week. Anyhow, will tell you all about it on the call. Hope you are all doing okay as well.

Really looking forward to upcoming Sundays meeting and can't wait to see you all

I think between the monthly meetings and the more recent topic focused bi weekly sessions have been great and seeing you face to face has enormously beneficial for me at least and I hope for you as well.

ojo.         Hi there!!…I’m sorry missing another call, specially you guys talk about dating because I’m looking for a date.
Unfortunately, my 96 years old uncle fell down and ended up in the hospital with six broken ribs and this morning my mother (her brother) and I went to see him. Fortunately, he is doing fine just with some pain as you guys can imagine. I hope that’s for the next call, I cross my fingers, I will be able to make it.
.. on my first call I just got to meet Jim and Mike I hope and I can meet some more members of this community…hugs

Ps. I wonder if in those calls that are speaking Spanish members

ojo.          Hi again!… hi Fred on this thread, I don’t remember if he was Kent or Jim talking about my sisters cancer, thanks for asking, fortunately she’s doing pretty good so good that she is right now in Cancun on vacation. Now after her radiation treatment, the next step is the reconstruction of her breast. He got to be so traumatic for her to see herself mutilated, but like I said, she’s very strong and following doctors instructions. Thanks again.

@Tonny2 Sorry to hear about your uncle and his fall, glad he is doing okay but of course, in pain and I hope he heals. 96 is impressive. Anyhow, hope to see you on the next call. The next monthly call that's more social will be in Jan, although there is the bi-weekly peer support call, and that's next Friday and if you want will ask the host to ensure you get an invite: See https://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=77329.0

@Tonny2 might have been both of us. I know I did comment in your Spanish thread, and glad to hear that your sister is recovering well enough to have a vacation. hugs, Jim.

I hope this text size helps you as I know you have eyesight challenges but if you need us to write bigger or bolder than this when replying please let me know

ojo.            @jimdublin, thanks for replying and definitely your great guy. Always trying to help me. Thanks for your concerns about maybe being able to read but my cell phone  reads me your comments although sometimes I do have problems finding the button on my cell phone to activate the speaking action when that happenes and the message is short I increase the size of the screen. I really appreciate, you being such a good person … and yes, I read your Spanish response. Let’s make a deal, I teach you, Spanish, and you teach me English….hugs

The reason for the Sunday instead of Saturday meeting is ill be attending that conference for people living with HIV on Saturday the 27th.

It was a really fun time this go ‘round. The larger than usual crowd really livened things up. Thanks for organizing it per usual Jim!

with half of us from America and half from Europe, we finally had a very Euro-centric conversation. And I laughed more in today's conversation that I ever have. LOL :D

ojo.            Hi there!… I must confess, I couldn’t participate today, because of my insomnia problems, I fell asleep around 9:30 AM and didn’t wake up until 1230 or so. Maybe next time you guys keep inviting me. I’m glad that you’re having fun in the encounters….hugs

Sounds great!

hearing whats going on with you.
right now I'm drinking water. yuck. but the visit to the doc is coming up in a couple of hours and i need my blood to flow for that blood draw.

Of course, water will help for the pee test.  ::) But that's a tricky one. You have to time it out for the "maybe pee before you take the 50 drive to the doctor's office" to the "keep drinking water during the ride for the fluid tests coming up" vs. the "can i wait to pee now at the office until I get to the lab, or do I need to piss so badly, I'll risk going as soon as I get into the office".  ;D ;D ;D

welp, it's time to finish getting dressed. I need to put on jeans and some underwear that I look good in. :) You never knew when you might end up with your pants down at the doctor's, and they usually would rather have you in underwear than finding out you go commando. :o  8) LOL

blck/wht checkerboard boxer briefs and the visit was good. Larry has been having issues so he got an EKG and a xray. Even though they didn't need the urine sample from me, I gave it to them anyway.

Then, after getting much needed haircuts,  we met up with my best friend and his mom at the Mexican restaurant when we got back to town. It is Margarita Celebration Day! Now I'm super drunk and can't stop the hiccups. LOL Larry told them I get extra touchy (ie horny) when I'm drunk, so we'll see how the rest of the night goes. ;)

ojo.            I’m sorry I couldn’t make it again. It seems that the only time I made it there was not a gathering…i was visiting my uncle who is 96  y/o, I remember telling you guys that he fell down last December, and he broke six ribs, he was sent to a rehabilitation center where he fell down again, and broke his hip. He had surgery to repair his hip, went back to their rehabilitation center, he was learning to walk again, he seems like he was doing pretty good, but yesterday he was sent to the ER with pneumonia. Adam think that he’s going to make it, he looks too fragil and he seems tired. Less skip finger crossed… Maybe next time I will make it to the gathering… Hawks.

What a fantastic call per usual. I’m not sure about everyone else, but I know meeting with some likeminded people and just commiserating, or rather laughing for a few hours, has been highly beneficial for me and provided a much needed relief.

Jim and Michael, you are both wonderful people and, more so, a wealth of knowledge. It’s a shame more people don’t tune in to these calls to learn, laugh, or just take a breather from real life for a bit.

Until next time my friends!

I always love catching up with y'all. I'll probably have to jump off close to noon though. It just depends on how early any of the pool party guests show up. ;)

Looking forward to seeing you all as well.

The meeting is Sunday this time round as Saturday is the pride parade in Dublin and Avril asked me to take her. I admit I do like going as I get to scare the haters.

wait?!? Sunday? Cool! The pool party is Saturday! any talking about me can be done to my face. :D

I certainly admire your allyship. Being brave and bold standing against the discrimination of others makes you a class act, my friend.

Not to mention, as someone else who has spoken out about issues, your combativeness is hot. ;)  :-* :P

The monthly social call was inappropriate and insane as always and I loved seeing everyone.

Topics discussed: Personal grooming & waxing, Pride, Aging, Travel, Sex, Fitness, Being positive a year post diagnosis and finally the relaunch of peer support calls.

Stay tuned as we will have updates soon on the relaunch of the peer support calls.

It's always GREAT catching up with y'all!

We got that nice bonus of having a member coming back after a while to catch us up on how well things are going. When you're first diagnosed, it's always a shock and it takes a little bit of time to wrap your head around it, get onto treatment, and start getting those good lab results coming back. Congratulations on your good results and don't be a stranger! We meet up every month. :)

I just wanted to emphasize that part of the call because I know I tell a lot of newbies that it does get better....and I know that's hard to hear, much less believe, when you're in the middle of it. But I've just seen too many people get through learning to deal with HIV and going on to live great long lives with daily ARVs. These days I just believe that when you're diagnosed with HIV you need to know it's not the 90s or even the 2000s. ARVs will save your life and health, and life is going to go on with whatever YOU make of it.

Clearly, the weekend pool party and this call started me off on a positive note this week. LOL :D :D Have a great week, y'all!

yea!  ;D

I'll have to catch y'all up on my mom's hubby being in the hospital. We're not so certain that things are going very badly for him. At 85 and with his attitude, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who will pull through. Mom and I have been down this road with my 2 previous partners, her 2 previous husbands, and my Nana (mom's mom). But I always hope for the best. Sometimes people can surprise you. ;)

noticed Leatherman’s white beard..lol
you missed the months of blue hair! it's so funny. the temporary hair dye said 10-20 washes. Instead, after two months of every day hair washing along with nearly that many days in the pool with the chlorine... and still I had to get a hair cut a week ago to get it all out.

asking Michael if I have SuperAIDS
well, of course you do! All the best sluts do. ;)  :D

You better have decent sex stories. None of that bs about I didn't even put it in and if I did it was only 5 secs. LOL I'm 62 been married close to a decade and have better sex stories this week than that. 8) ;D

ojo.            Hello everyone!… I want to apologize, once again, something came up and I couldn’t meet with you guys. Period I think it might be better not to receive more invites because I feel so bad.. this time, my sister-in-law, and very good friend of mine, called me to let me know that her father had a heart attack last night, paramedics couldn’t done anything for him so he died. she was feeling so bad because her family was calling her during the night to let her know about it but she and my brother had their cell phone off until this morning around 5 AM, California time, when she checked her messages and discovering the bad news. R.I.P.

Again, I’m sorry guys, but like I said, nobody knows what the future will bring us…Hugs

Ps.@JimAllen thanks for the  PM

Cool! It seems like it's been a loooong time since we last chatted.  :)

Hopefully we'll get some newer people to come chat with us; otherwise ;) :P .....

I'm realizing as I sit here thinking and typing, I can only regal y'all with bad stories. It's funny how bad stuff sometimes creeps up on you until you suddenly realize that it's not just sunshine and roses going on in your life. But I'm a good story teller so I can at least make my tales of woe interesting.  ::) ;D There's frigid waters, spending lotsa $$$$, medical testing, and amazing vertigo (adding in barf always makes a story better!) ;D ;D

But I'm a good story teller so I can at least make my tales of woe interesting.  ::) ;D There's frigid waters, spending lotsa $$$$, medical testing, and amazing vertigo (adding in barf always makes a story better!) ;D ;D

Life can't all be good and we're here to support you as well. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and if Alan joins we get to quiz him on what is the "perfect gay couple" ... I have no idea but so many questions  ;D

Life can't all be good
Hey! Nobody's dying....at least not yet  ;) ....so I'm not even all that bothered. LOL I probably should be bothered; but my life has molded me into being a realistic optimist. Not only is no one dead, only one person is in the hospital and they're sorta recovering. So life ain't too bad. ;)

"perfect gay couple"
Uh-oh.
my plants are growing, the yard looks great, and my neighbors get an eyeful of Larry and I in speedos in the pool, me shirtless mowing the yard, and a lot of kissing and huggings in our comings and goings.

If we were near you, you wouldn't think of us as the "stupid" perfect gay couple though because we both have a bit of a care kink. (I was a bit of a daddy dom back we met.  8) ) Not only do we look all syrupy sweet and loving (because we are!), but we come with cookies (I've got a baking kink too) and christmas presents (because larry remembers all the important dates). We'd be your favorite perfect gay couple! :)

Wait! are we still a perfect gay couple if we don't dress alike?!? Because I don't allow that nonsense -- no matter how many times Larry shows up with a shirt for me that looks oddly similar to one of his. LOL

I mistakenly read you were mowing the yard in your Speedos, had to reread it.

yes, you misread; but no, you aren't wrong in your assumption. work boots, headphones, and speedo has been my yardwork outfit to surprise several UPS drivers and mail carriers. the neighbors certainly have plenty of entertainment looking onto our property; while Alan has his boring couple with their coffees...and what else? looking at their phones, sitting in robes, or wearing ties before heading to work?

Gross. My least fave thing in the gay community is when two men get married and dress exactly alike. It’s sooooo unoriginal. Like they dont have an independent thought between the both of them. Or maybe I’m just jaded 🤷🏼‍♂️

Can’t wait to see you and Jim today!

omg. i just don't know that I'll ever go into the ocean again, and I really really love being at the beach. But it just seems like I could easily be sexually assaulted by "nature" and I don't want that. Heck! I'm rethinking now every time I've ever gotten any of that water in my mouth!

My first partner Randy and I had a pet store for 6 years. I'm so sure that if he could have gotten his hands on a penguin, I would have been cleaning up after that poop-machine. LOL

ojo.            @numbersguy83, thanks for your message. It was  so nice to at least heard you, to tell you the truth, I felt so frustrated not being able to see you guys but, it is what it is, next guttering I will try to be there. I meant to ask you something that day, but I didn’t have time to do it. Maybe next time I will ask because I want to learn from your story so I can help somebody else or maybe even help myself. Again, thanks for your message and calling me friend…hugs

Sorry to hear that it’s been rough. You know I’m here if you ever need to vent, or I can just tell you a bad joke… like why can’t witches have babies? Because their husbands have hallow-weenies 🤣

so that's how it is, numbguy82? ;D

(is that your birth year?!? I'm so old I could be all of my friends' dad. Last xmas, my best friend got me a tee that says it's not a dad bod, it's a father figure. LOL)

so here are my dad jokes that you all need to laugh at...
or there will be spankings ;)

What's a gay vampire's favorite candy? A sucker.
What do demons eat for breakfast? Deviled eggs.
Why didn’t the skeleton go out dancing? He had no body to go with.
How did the skeleton know it was going to rain? He felt it in his boner... oops, bones.

Why did the ghost starch his sheet? He wanted everyone scared stiff.
