Stresses is killing me,please give me the comfirmation..
« on: December 07, 2008, 11:53:53 am »
Dear,experts.

I'm a 23 yr old not-married man .

Recently,So stupid,I had an encounter with a sex worker ( I guess that she is HIV+). We had unprotected blowjob (I received) about 3 minutes, protected vaginal (the condom seemed intact. I think I would have noticed if it broke, correct?).
When finished blowjob,I didn't see any blood or open sore in my penis. (So lucky!)

At 6 and 8 weeks after my exposure,I had a antibody-HIV test (It's called DETERMINE HIV 1/2),all is NEGATIVE.
At 90 days after my exposure,I also had a  DETERMINE HIV 1/2 ,The result was NEGATIVE,too.
DETERMINE HIV 1/2 is rapid blood test, here is its website: http://www.determinetest.com/
Most clinic in my country used it to test HIV.
At nearly 4 months after my exposure,I had an ELISA test, the result was NEGATIVE,too.

My questions are:

1/If the condom was intact did I have a risk?

2/Should I worry about the blowjob? I didn't notice any blood in her mouth.(but I'm not sure If the blood was a little)

3/Do I need to test further ?
hichic, because,When I went to the clinic in my country, and the doctor said that 6 months test is conclusive result, not 3 months.
He said blowjob is a risk.
It makes me worried and anxiety.
I read from this Forum that 3 months is conclusive, why did my Doctor say 6 months?
I can't understand, therefore It makes me tired for waiting 6 months....
Please give me some advise..thanks

I'm totally worried about this so your help is appreciated.

Thank you very much,Experts...

You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV from receiving a blowjob protected or not.

As Rod said, you never needed to test over this incident you're clearly so concerned about. In the entire history of the epidemic not one guy has ever been confirmed to have been infected by getting a blowjob. It's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first.

The only proven risks sexually for HIV transmission are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. All the other stuff that people worry about sexually are only theoretically risky. Use condoms for intercourse consistently and you'll be well protected sexually as far as HIV is concerned.

Other STDs are easier to acquire so we do recommend that anyone who's sexually active ought to have a full STD panel done at least once a year. And more often if there is any unprotected intercourse.

You never needed to test this time and you certainly don't have to test again. You are reliably HIV negative. Period. End of story.

hichic, but,When I went to the clinic in my country to retest at 3 months after my exposure.
The doctor said that 6 months test is conclusive result, not 3 months.
He said blowjob is a low risk, but he recommended me "you need to test to get a conclusive result"
It makes me worried and anxiety.
I read from this Forum that 3 months is conclusive, why did my Doctor say 6 months?
I can't understand, therefore It makes me tired for waiting 6 months....

but my Doctor said "blowjob is a low risk" !!
Therefore he recommended me "you need to test at 6 months to get a conclusive result,3 months isn't reliable !!"
As you know, when you asked the doctor, and the doctor recommended that "YOU HAVE TO DO IT".
He is an Expert, therefore what he said, you must listen and follow it.
I know ,3 months is enough ,but everytime when I remembered what my Doctor said, Stresses came back on me....I felt anxiety again...
Why,3 months test is enough and conclusive, but why he said I have to retest at 6 months??

hichic, read the following.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

We've told you what our evaluation of your situation is. There was no risk. You don't have to believe us.

Your doctor is wrong about needing to test out to 6 months for a blowjob. There is no risk for HIV in getting a blowjob. None.

We're not going to continue going back and forth about this. If you need to re-test at 6 months for your own peace of mind that is strictly up to you. It's a waste of money and resources to do that just to collect another negative test result, but that's your choice to make.

We can't tell you anything more than we have already.

Today,184 days after my exposure,I went to the clinic and retested HIV last time, following my Doctor recommedation. (to kick the stresses out of my mind)
The test is still Determine HIV 1/2 (quick antibody-blood test)
As you recommended, the result was still NEGATIVE, woo-hooooo
Now,am I safe 100%?? can I need a further test (with ELISA,for example) ??
Can I move on and enough safety to get married with my girlfriend???

(I was get stresses because thinking about her after what I stupidly did, please forgive me...)

You've had a Dr. tell you no risk and you have had forum members from not one but two different forums that you didn't have a risk. What did you expect? MOVE ON.
