How you doing everybody? I am doing pretty good i just have a couple quick questions and i would greatly appreciate if i could find some definitive answers. Thank you in advance. So here my story i just go done testing over a low risk exposure out to three months on the 20th of sept. On the 3 of october i got drunk and i made a mistake a i received oral sex from a transexual. She only had my penis in her mouth for liek 3 minutes. :( anyways to say the least this has gotten me worried sick that i might have caught HIV even tho she assured me on 2 occasions she gets tested every 6 months. so my first question is what is my risk and do i need testing? My second question at the HIV clinic i noticed a brochure that was for the UCSD early test. The website for this and the brochure all say the test detects HIV 1 week after esposure. Needless to say i scheduled an appointment for monday. If the this test comes back negative (which i am praying for) can i rely on it 100%? I need to know because i am going out of the country in december to see a girlfriend and it wont be in time for the usual 3 month test and if i caught it i couldn't live with myself for infecting her. Again any help would be greatly appreciated. Receiving oral sex from someone is not a risk for HIV. Saliva is not infectious.

thanks for your answer i think i can rest now...but for curiosities sake what about the early test?

As far as the "early test" is concerned, we continue to follow the recommendation of the CDC. That recommendation is that if you've had an unsafe sexual experience, specifically unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, you need to test at 13 weeks for a conclusively reliable negative result.
You can do an initial test at 6 weeks. If that result is negative the likelihood is it will be negative again 1t 13 weeks.

wait so im confused ??? should i get a test or not? my exposure was a brief insertive oral sex i did not touch his/her genitals at all and she only gave me a 1-2 minute blowjob

I do not understand your confusion. You clearly did not have an HIV risk.
For those who DO have a risk, a test at six weeks is a great indicator of one's status, but this site still follows the three month testing window guideline.
Again, you had no risk for HIV.

No, you didn't have a risk so there is no need for HIV testing.
End of story. Get on with your life.

Over this event? No.
But I think that any sexually active person should be tested at least once a year for STDs, including HIV. That's just a blanket suggestion.

i had an hiv test 3 months after my last exposure 1 weeks before the oral sex exposure am i in the clear without testing?

Yes, you can resume having sex with your partner.
