Hello Thembi,

Welcome to the Forums.

I can highly recommend a charity called Body and Soul who are based in central London and have a weekly support group for men, women and children who are either positive themselves or closely affected by it. You will find plenty of support and a very caring team of staff and volunteers there.

You can find out more about them here http://bodyandsoulcharity.org/

Also Positively UK have a helpline you can call which offers peer support; the telephone number is
020 7713 0222 and operates from 10am-4pm weekdays.

I have been positive for 20 years now and found talking to others who were positive was a great help in the early years after diagnosis so I hope you find the support you need.

Best wishes,

Emma

Hi Thembi, welcome to the forums.

You can also visit Positively UK's website at http://www.positivelyuk.org/

They publish a quarterly magazine that is quite informative and focuses on women's issues. It's called Positively Women. You can get a free subscription from them and you can also read back issues online at http://www.positivelyuk.org/magazine.php

I'm sorta in the UK - I live in the Isle of Man, which is a small island nation in the Irish Sea. I go to Liverpool for my hiv care.

Talking to people here is the next best thing to talking in person, so don't ever hesitate to start a thread to talk about what's on your mind, or to chime in on any other thread where people are talking about something that interests you. We're here for you!

Looking forward to hearing more from you....

Hugs,
Ann

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
