Are your doctors dismissing you?
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:20:02 pm »
Just wondering if you are as frustrated as I am. The doctors and ASO's are not meeting my needs at all. I have even switched doctors, clinics and now moved to a new State and find the same run around. Nobody cares. No help out there.

please reply with a yes or no and your State, years positive as I may write an article and need some info. Feel free to PM me.

I find, being a woman, arrogant male doctors are dismissing my health issues. perhaps they have no answers, fine, just say so.  Not a one has been able to diagnose or treat my issues and not a one has said the word AIDS.

thanks
diagnosed in 1992.

What a long strange trip it's been

Yes and no, and I'm in Texas.

I say yes, because all of the case managers and doctors I met initially were very dismissive and cold. It was really depressing. I don't have any health coverage besides Ryan White, so I thought that's just how it would have to be. But, I'm not one to just roll over and take it. I got on the phone and started calling the highest management I could get on the phone. And it worked! My husband and I now have a very caring and personable case manager and both have doctors that fit our individual needs.

There are professionals out there who care, but you have to dig around to find them. And don't be afraid to complain! The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

I’m in Texas as well. I see a Dr. whose specializes in HIV and in regards to testing and evaluating my levels, he’s awesome BUT other health needs, not so much. He recommended that I get a “PCP” for my “other issues” and yes I’ve postponed finding a PCP because they are cold and even my HIV doctor likes to refer meto all sorts of other specialists etc when I complain about health issues. It’s an uphill journey but keep searching. There are great docs out there
