The fog rolled in
« on: May 15, 2008, 07:17:29 am »
With our dance concert on the horizon (Saturday night), we started our intense dress rehersals last night.  I elbowed my way through the crowd so that I could watch Mini and our youngest son dance.  I wanted to CRY!  Mini just stood there looking around.  I asked her what in the world she was doing and she said, "What am I supposed to be doing?"  WHAT??  She's been dancing these same dances since January.  In the studio Monday night, she had no problems and now this.  It's not the 1st time she's been on stage - this is her 3rd year (6th concert).  I was hoping that as the night progressed, things would get better, but they only got worse.  During the last dance, when the 3 of us dance together, she just sat down, then walked off the stage.  She said her legs hurt, her arms hurt, her feet hurt, and she "can't think right now".  I was stunned...and saddened.

So, tonight, we're back in rehersals.  It's raining, so she won't be playing outside - she was out playing for about 3hrs yesterday.  I'll get her to lay down for a bit this afternoon.  Hopefully that will help things.  Her teacher is wonderful to her - very patient and understanding.  She told me last night that if Mini just stands there looking cute, it would be OK.  I thought we were past all this "fog", but I guess it never goes away.  We are doing some Irish step-dancing, and Ireland is known for fog, so I guess she's just getting into charactor.
