That sounds like a pretty good night to me.  What one do you like the best?

I've been watching Cheers on Netflix lately.  It's a slow process but I enjoy that series.  I even went to the Cheers in Boston back in August and it was awesome.  Yes it's odd for a 36 year old to be into Cheers but I am.

But not watching anything worth while today.  Just got back from the gym so that was my fun.

I've had a horrible flu-ey cold for the last week so not managed to watch much that requires any thought, so have been binge watching the 'Catfish TV show' on the Sky TV Now on-demand thingy.

That said, I also found the 'vice' channel on there, and I love their output - so as well as watching the 'Countdown to Zero', watched a few documentaries about sources of  psychedelic drugs in South America, and one where a bloke was trying to get high by taking Atripla and something moaning about the lack of Lesbian bars in the US :)

I watched the promo for Happy and didn't seem like it was something for me.

I'm also trying to finish Cheers and Merlin so I don't want to get addicted to another series at the moment.

Just finished Season 1 of Ozark (Its a bank-holiday weekend here so I had the time)
To be honest best acting work I've seen so far from the actor Jason Bateman.

Overall dark, smart, with some very gritty moments at times.

the hundred .pretty good so far ..

Interesting, added this to my list  :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia1Fbg96vL0

watched thru Krypton, and starting Lost in Space
need to watch Star Trek Discovery

Watched all the new episodes of Star Trek Discovery, no spoilers but to me  this not Star Trek at its best but still enjoyable.   Watched the new Lost in Space with my daughter, she thought it was absolutely fantastic, in hindsight not fully age appropriate for her, but sure she liked it and got caught up in the drama of it. ;D

What made you start watching Happy?

Chance, watched the first episode and was on the fence, watched the next episode and loved it, dark, crazy and twisted.  :)

Blacklightning

Cool, have not seen it yet but on my list to watch

Yeah, indeed its really well done, I just finished season 2, no spoilers but it did not disappoint.

Tonight I'm watching Star Trek, 1960's original series, a dose of Gene Roddenberry's utopian society vision is healthy from time to time.  ;)

Orange is the new black is good, although it glamourizes women's prison haha.
I wondered while I watched it if I would be successful in prison, selling ramen illegally and having a prison husband (which I think you don't choose, but if you can I'd like him to be slightly attractive hahaha).
Also dropping the soap becomes redundant with shampoo and body wash......

Black Mirror - tiny bit underwhelmed to be honest. A bit formulaic I thought for this small season. No ground breaking episodes like San Junipero, Metalhead etc

oh see, somehow sometimes tv shows and/or movies accidentally download themselves onto my computer. (I think I was hacked! ;) ) Oh course, I have to "preview" these files to make sure I don't need to notify authorities about child porn or evidence of crimes.

as for the mandalorian, i have 2 words:

Want to save some cash on your Netflix subscription ? 1) Cancell your current subscription, 2) Get/have a free VPN connection...3) Apply for a new Netflix account BUT choose a country with "weak" currency like Turkey. Saves you at least 50% on the Ultra HD rate. Just a Christmas tip. ;-)

There are many good scenes in this movie, the one that cracks me up is when they are all watching Snow White.

I wanted to rewatch "lost in space"; instead we watched my hubby's choice of "what's up doc?"  ;D ;D

of course he had his pick of nearly any movie, since he has his own blockbuster inside our house

those are the shelves I built to house his thousands of DVDs that we brought with us when we moved into our new home a year and a half ago.

(he doesn't let me pick movies too often, since I usually pick musicals. ROFLMAO)

Lost in Space, very cool. 8)  The question remains though, 1965, 1998 or 2018?

being how the information being shared has drifted off the subject of Netflix to include other entertainment not offered by them .

I have been particular to west world on HBO

season three has been about spoiler alert ?

back in 1984 while in the service . I had tried my hand at writing a story  more like day dreaming about a future were there was a machine a computer that sole purpose was to maximize profit. the world was a cold efficient place whose only concern was making money for the machine operator.

it was a way for my day dreams to take form. but it never went anywhere. This west world series . has done a awesome work of artistic science fiction creation .

not to give away the story behind it . just that it leads and I followed .  to me this is truly a future that might come to pass if we are not careful. not that our world now is not governed by powers that be who's only concern is to make as much money for themselves and consequence to peoples lives are not taken into account . just how much money they can make for themselves .  it has always been this way . but in the future a machine might take this to a whole other level . that is underlying story I felt was being told . I am sure others might see it different . I thought it is done very well and the acting made me think and feel this was a story worth paying attention too . the part were the machine --- spoiler

not to give away to much . but a machine crashes the machine that has control of the human social order . to me this is Brilliant and highly entertaining.   how they do it . you will have to watch .

west world .  very much a stop and make you think . at least to me .  and entertains at the same time . can not ask for anything more .

art imitating life . life imitating art . control of how things are run . just something to ponder . a what if the way things work is not the way the entertainment says it works ? paranoia or just seeing behind the curtain to how life is for the people scurrying around living their lives unaware of powers behind the scenes guiding us  onward to our futures that most people are unaware of ?  ya  just paranoia or is it ? maybe a machine do this is not needed and it has always been this way ?

all the best

We got quite a while ago rid of all cassette's, videotapes, cd's and dvd's. Gave them all away to Goodwill. Don't even have players anymore. Hubby downloads everything and has an extensive library on the NAS (we don't upload !)

Last night we saw the movie; The Gentlemen which I hereby recommend..trailer:

1998 with Joey from friends. LOL
we did watch it after Streisand ,hottie O'Neal and wonderfully hilarious Madeline Kahn

2018 version was good, although I haven't seen season 2 yet, so the topic is back to netflix. :)

The 2018 version is good, I finished season 2 (I will not post any spoilers)
Overall, it's good, not the same as the original but that's to be expected I suppose.

The 1998 film is enjoyable particularly on the big screen or projector I  find. It had great special effects.

just queued up s02. I did like s01 too. Having seen/reseen all three versions, I find that the underlying themes are all there in all versions. There's a slightly messed up family (aren't all families?) and they're lost. in space. with a horrible person. And an awesome robot.

While I found jonathan harris entertaining, I don't like Parker Posey's version of Dr. Smith. The best was Sirius Black! (Sorry it was a Harry Potter Weekend on TV LOL) On the other hand, I'm down with all the Majors Wests. Hubba hubba. Looking back my attraction to Don West at the early age of 6 probably was the first clue my parents tried to ignore about my sexuality. LOL

The 1998 film is enjoyable particularly on the big screen or projector I  find. It had great special effects.
Except for the future-DrSmith effect, it's EFX still holds up pretty well. Some of LeBlanc's lines are a little corny now; but still, Major West is a badass

anyone else notice

download movies and TV  it seems like every movie or show  out there ready to watch at any time

for a small fee here and fee there everywhere a fee ? as things progress so do the fees charged for easy access . A fee for access then a fee to be a member then fee for each thing you might want to watch  . each layer has a fee.   small fees easily  add up . even old movies have a fee . for only so much for monthly access , then to access the list another fee then for each item another fee . where is all this money going ?

a while back I was at the grocery store . the women in front me said the price of groceries this is outrageous! I said without thinking or hesitation. that is how the big houses on the other side of town and the large luxury Yachts in the harbor get payed for. she scrunched up her face and said what are you talking about ? I said the money we spend being over charged for groceries  ends up being used by others to pay for the large houses and yachts they buy . the money has to come from some place . she laughed and  walked away  never having connected the two dots .

the mechanism that runs the world the economic social aspects of our lives  . it may not be a computer but the mechanism that makes the world we live in the operating system does not have a control computer mechanism . it is still a system and  it still can come to screeching halt by something ?  even if it seems  slowly over months. this run around . the future could have other factors that have even more disastrous results . or it might do things so full of awe and wonder that we may never see coming that will leave us the participants feeling the wonders that life offers . ''

connect the dots and mechanism emerges

conspiracy theory,  the unnoticed operating system that is in our lives . invisible unaware of just how it works but that it does .

it is in everything .   it can be changed manipulated  it can work or it can malfunction .

<system engineering it is what does everything >

Although it's all ready to watch I kinda miss video clubs, where you just rented a movie for a week for a minimal price (2 euros, video games too). Plus I could get some good recommendations from the guy that worked there. Too bad video clubs are closed .
Prices have gone up in edibles and "healthy" fresh foods unfortunately. I remember the first time we had euros in Greece, you could get everything with 1 euro (roll up gum,the foot lollipop, bubbaloo and fart bombs, all that with 1 euro).
Btw,I just saw a Netflix animation series (based on a game): Castlevania,it's awesome I saw all three seasons in one go.

this might be something that could be done for entertainment .

someone writes a story from their home . it gets reviewed rewritten and the computer generated animation is done from the animators homes . the voice over sound track from the actors homes . the movie released to peoples homes . the entire thing made from people who are in their homes then released to the world who are in their homes . ( maybe this might or could happen)

a story like this in the  near future .

a cruise ship that sits at a city pier.  the outside of the ship has a track that goes across each side and then up the side of the ship to deliver food and whatever the person living in the ships cabin requests online.  then whatever they throw away leaves on the same tracks .   the new normal for the near future . what else are they going to do with cruise ships . who is going to travel from place to place in them and run the risk of getting sick in this place called the near future .

In this ship is a guy who's job it is to investigate crime. he gets his assignments through his tablet and leaves his ship by a car with a comfortable seat with windows around it that travels on the same track and is computer guided to the crime scenes he investigates .

I have quite a view ideas on where and how to take a story like this .

does anyone know how to start something like this ??

I am sure some clever person out there is already working on it ?

such a shame it is not us

to bad we could not get something moving like this ?

just something to think about

so i just finished s02 and wow! e05 (with John in trouble and Judy coming to the rescue) was great! (I was very weepy though. Thanks Mom. thank to your genes not only am I an avid reader; but I also cry in books and movies too.) I hate "Dr. Smith" (or whoever she is!) even more every episode. (I hate her more than Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter, and Umbridge rates right up there after Trump imho). Smith is a marvelously horrid character. I have give this show some high praise to for their season-ending cliffhangers. Both seasons have left me anxious for the next season. I read though that s03 will be the final season. :(

Although it's all ready to watch I kinda miss video clubs, where you just rented a movie for a week for a minimal price (2 euros, video games too). Plus I could get some good recommendations from the guy that worked there.
if you're ever in South Carolina, stop by "Larry's Video Store" (i.e. my hubby's huge collection) and he'll recommend some movies for you. Just remember: "Be Kind, Rewind".  ;D ;D RIP BlockBuster
