Rash after teeth cleaning. Antiretroviral sideeffect,amoxil allergy,syphilis or?

Well, I have been on treatment for 12 days (prezista,norvir,kivexa). The day before tomorrow I had a teeth cleaning and received amoxil at around 5 o clock. At eleven I took my meds and half an hour later I noticed a light rash on my forearms and lower legs... I visited my doctor, he told me that it might be an allergy and he gave me xozal... The rash is sometimes more intense and others not so much... Now my doc is on vaccation.Is it an allergy (it would be weird regarding that it started on the limbs) or a virus? Maybe even syphilis? I will visit a doctor, but I am kind of freaked out at the moment. If anyone had any similar experience please reply.

I doubt it's syphilis. The disseminated rash associated with syphilis occurs in the secondary stage and is quite distinct. It's usually most noticeable on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.

Are you still taking the amoxil?

I've had this with Amoxicillin. Not saying that this IS it, but is a somewhat common effect.

Hi,...

Some people may have a photo sensitivity to Amoxicillin.  In other words, if you are still on the Amoxicillin, and spending time in the sun, this may trigger it.

There are other antibiotics as well that for some may cause photo sensitivity.

Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
 Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

 UPDATED: As of April, 2nd 2024,Viral load Undetectable.
CD 4 @593 /  CD4 % @ 18 %

Lymphocytes,total-3305 (within range)

cd4/cd8 ratio -0.31

cd8 %-57

Τhanks for the replies, I am not on amoxil anymore,I only took once as prophylaxis for the teeth cleaning.

Well,the doc I visited this morning told me tha probably amoxil caused the rash.My doc proposed that I keep taking my antiretroviral meds while another doc told me that the allergy could be due to the antiretrovirals and I should stop taking them in order to run some tests.Both of them are hiv specified. I decided to listen to my doc,but I have to ask him some things when he returns from holidays.. It's bad to be afraid of kivexa related allergy every night.I know it could get severe,even deadly,if it hapenned

the rash is over, it was due to amoxil, I am allergic to penicillin, so I seem to be perfectly fine now. ;) thanks everyone.
