Applied for the documents to get into Uni
« on: November 28, 2019, 06:15:59 am »
Went to the mainland and did the process, now I'll just wait for the mail to start my application process on uni.
I also got tricked into buying a perfume 😅😅,well, not exactly but they presented their imitation perfumes nicely haha and it's not that bad.
Other than that,I got my meds too,so 2 birds with one stone. 😁

Excellent update on the application, any thoughts on how long you will have to wait to hear back?

The lady said that they will be starting to go through the papers in 3 weeks, after that they will do at least a month. I have their phone number and they told me if I wanted to ask anything I could call.
I also had an issue with the paper, they needed a professors signature (in this case the ward's manager, because I am in a uni hospital) and luckily he is a laid back guy, went quickly and got the signature. The beurocracy of it all though.....😒
I spent a good chunk of money on clothes and perfume after to celebrate hahah.

Either nursing or social work.
Nursing  because it was my goal even before being hiv positive and social work because I searched into it and feels like my cup of tea.
I am currently on a 2 year degree (associates degree in tourism) that I'll finish in some months just to have a back up for a good job (since most jobs here in Greece revolve around tourism).
It was quite a difficult decision to make since my parents don't know yet about me wanting to study and were opposed to let me go to uni when I was 18,because they said "it's not made for us", "us" meaning immigrants.
So regardless what they say I'm gonna do it because I want to,whether I find a job on the field or not,I want to do what makes me happy and it's been a childhood dream to go to university. The fact that I had the courage to apply makes me really happy and excited that I took the starting step.

Congrats Fabio!

By the way, are you an immigrant to Greece? And why Uni wouldn’t be made for you if I can ask?

Yes,I am of Albanian origin, but grew up in Greece. My parents immigrated here when I was an infant.
The mentality in Albania is that university is a waste of time and you're better of finding a job and making money (probably because of the communist mentality). My parents never gave me any initiative when I was at school and never really cared about my grades, which made me feel awful and in a way showing me that they don't care. However, growing up,I had more incentives to keep doing well for myself.
When I was in high school I had the opportunity to go to uni,but my parents didn't let me,because they didn't want to help me with the expenses, plus they always thought I'm dumb (no joke, even my teachers thought I was mentally challenged because I was shy). I overcame my shyness and showed people I was able to be above the average student.

Sounds familiar to me... Double congratulations then!

Being an Albanese in Greece must have sucked. I was there on holiday after the war in the Balkans... a lot of Albanians were seeking refuge... I remember they were not really welcomed.

Keep fighting!

The truth is now things are different and people have been ok with the exception of some rude elderly people haha.
