Transfer factor?
« on: June 19, 2008, 12:26:42 am »
Hi,

Well, I hear about Transfer factor and a friend told me that since he has tried it he feels better...
Does anybody knows about it ?
Does it works?
Is it sure? (I asked my doctor and he suggested me not to try it at least I were completely sure from where it is extracted, because I could get another infection such  hepatitis or something like that. But besides that he told me it's not dangerous).
At the end I decided to try it, but I would like to know experiences from people who has tried it.
Thanks

No. The Transfer factor I'am talking about are leukocytes extracted from healthy people that we can drink and that helps the immune system to be stronger.

I seriously doubt you are going to get a human source of that in a drinkable liquid. It is derived from colostrum which all mammals produce initially for their babies (you know ..from the breasts). There is a company called 4Life that makes a drinkable form derived from animal.  This probably should be posted in nutrition as it is considered a supplement. The research on this is a bit shaky.  It is also a very expensive supplement as well.

What is the name of the product your friend is taking?

Well, this kind of transfer factor is produced in Mexico and the information is in spanish. Looking for infomation I read about the one you said but this is another one and is produced at IPN (a mexican university).

The name of the product is TRANSFERON. What I undertand about this is that it makes the immune system works better and then it is used to try some illnesses (to tell the true I have doubts about its effectiveness).
