should i worry
« on: March 28, 2011, 03:56:10 am »
Hi, a couple of days ago i met a man at his home and we engaged in mutual masturbation, we were lying on the bed wanking each other, i had his cock in my hand and i lay it down with the back of my hand on his pubic area so to speak, then i leant in for 2 maybe 3 seconds and licked his shaft at the bottom by his balls with the tip of my tongue, i'm pretty sure it was dry, i think even his head was dry too but can't be 100%, even when he came it was like a tiny dribble, i am now worried what if there were any traces of precum on his shaft? My mouth was really dry too as i was really nervous when i got there and didnt have anything to drink.

You were never at risk of contracting HIV in the situations you've provided.

HIV is not transmitted orally. Saliva contains over a dozen different enzymes and proteins that inhibit HIV transmission, also HIV is not transmitted outside its host.

Andre, we are not responsible for what other websites maybe putting out. What I can tell you is that even if you got some of the other guy's precum into your mouth, your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV. Additionally, HIV is a very fragile virus which does not remain viable when exposed to the air in the kind of masturbatory situation you have described.

You are worrying needlessly. There is no need for testing nor for further concern on you part.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms for those and you will be well protected.

Hi, thanks for your replies, i wasn't implying that your in any way responsible for other websites views, what i meant was, if there was is no risk in getting pre-cum in ones mouth then why do the NHS list it with the ways of contracting hiv, surely someone as big as the uk's NHS should be giving out sound advice and not scare mongering people needlessly. And as for the saliva, my mouth was as dry as ghandi's sandal that day, i doubt there was any saliva in my mouth. And wouldn't pre cum survive for even a short while if it got spread onto the shaft of a penis?

I understood very well what you were saying about NHS. And what I was saying and repeat now is that we are not going to account or explain what you find on other websites. ...Other than to say it's a safe bet for other sites to hedge on "theoretical risks."

What you have reported is not a risk. Period. The so-called risk from pre-cum is in that "theoretical" category. Meaning it could happen but from decades of experience we know that it doesnt. If you aren't comfortable about that then get tested at 13 weeks. That would be strictly for your peace of mind and getting a negative result is a sure thing. You decide.

This is not an HIV situation.

what if your mouth was so dry there was no saliva and you got some precum in your mouth then? and i know you say it doesnt survive outside the host but for how long, what if it just got there?

you say there is no history of infection through precum but the nhs websites say there is, are they making it up? what if there is infection through precum but the people who have been infected practice other things too and think they have got it from the other things they have done.

Man, you are so caught up in what ifs.

Let me also mention there are ongoing longterm studies of sero-discordant couples, both gay and straight,  who have had lots of mutual unprotected oral and only protected vaginal and anal intercourse. To date not a single sero-negative partner has become infected.

You are bothering yourself needlessly. But if you can't let go of this concern then get tested at 13 weeks and collect the inevitable negative result. I also suggest you stop surfing the net because I can promise you that you will find lots there to feed your worst fears and all to no good purpose. You did not have a risk. Period.

You may have doubted there was no saliva in your mouth. There was.

HIV is not spread through precum and definitely not through precum or even sperm on the shaft of the penis. It is through the pee hole or the underside of the foreskin if not circumcised that HIV can enter during intercourse. Intercourse provides the kind of receptive setting which HIV requires for transmission. On the shaft is not a risk for transmission.

so when precum gets out into the air, if it contains hiv does it die as soon as it hits the air? i know how annoying i must seem but i'm like this with everything, i find it hard to get my head round things. it's like i know i am probably being a pain in your ass but i'm that worried i just ask anyway :-[

i was so worried that i went to the bathroom and swilled my mouth out twice with water then drank some too, but that was like 5 mins after i did it

What you are concerned about is not a credible risk. Frankly we are not going to indulge you further about this.

If you can't accept that you didn't have a risk then get tested and collect the inevitable negative result. Maybe you will believe that. l

Andre,

No, it cannot possibly be connected. You did not have a risk for hiv infection, remember?

It's that time of year when the changing seasons means there are bugs going around. It happens every year like clockwork. Sometimes a sore throat is just that - a sore throat cause by some bug going around. If you continue to feel unwell, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv as you did not have a risk.

it must be frusrating for you guys i know but i think when someone is exemely worried they tend to be kind of selfish understandably, i have carried on having sex with my gf based on what you guys have been telling me but she says she has an upset tummy now too, man it's like being in some kind of nightmare.
why cant i get my head round what you guys are telling me, i keep thinking knowing my luck i'll be the poor sucker that gets it from precum when everyone tells me it's a tiny risk.  the part about hiv not transmitting outside the host, what does that actually mean? what if it's only been outside briefly and then somehow enters the other person ie, precum on the tongue, say some had dribbled down the penis, would it not stay infectious for a short while?
and if your tongue was so dry (like when you wake up in the night and you need a drink and your mouth just has that cuckoo spit in it)  if you have no saliva to break down the hiv, could you not get it then.

Andre,

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

Hiv can only latch onto and infect a very few, very specific types of cells and these cells are not found in abundance in the mouth. When hiv is even slightly damaged, it cannot latch onto any cells.

As I said, it is a very fragile, easily damaged virus. It is actually pretty inefficient when it comes to infecting new hosts. If it weren't so inefficient there would be far more people in the world living with hiv than there are.

If you cannot bring yourself to believe us when we tell you that you had no risk, then go get tested, collect your negative result and get on with your life.

I'm getting really worried now, i can't help it, every little tummy ache or anything my gf complains about i keep thinkning i have infected her, to try and keep mysielf calm i keep repeating what you have all told me but part of me keeps thinking what if i did, there really was no saliva in my mouth,it was so dry my tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth, it's funny how almost three weeks after i feel like cr*p, i know if i was to go to clinic over here they would say "yes it is possible" i remember a few years ago a nurse in a clinic telling me i could getit from a bow job, i dont know where else to go, i know you guys have been over this a million times but isn't there always a chance i could have?  do you not think it was irresponsible of me to carry on having sex with my girlfriend untili am sure.  Iv'e never been so worried in my life :'(

Andre,

To quote you... "i leant in for 2 maybe 3 seconds and licked his shaft at the bottom by his balls with the tip of my tongue, i'm pretty sure it was dry, i think even his head was dry too but can't be 100%, even when he came it was like a tiny dribble, i am now worried what if there were any traces of precum on his shaft?"

You didn't give him a blowjob. You licked his balls and the base of his penis for a couple seconds. We've already explained to you that even if there was some pre-cum or even cum on his penis, it was outside the body and unable to infect.

This is more about your feelings of guilt than it is about the science of hiv transmission. You did what you did and there's nothing wrong with a bit of experimentation. Get over it.

You did NOT have a risk for hiv transmission. If you and/or your girlfriend feel unwell, see a doctor. It's NOTHING to do with hiv infection. You did NOT have a risk!

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

Hi, been on vacation for a week and been really worrying myself sick, almost 3 weeks to the day after the event i developed a cold, blocked nose, sneezing, glands in my neck felt a little tender, lasted for about 3-4 days then cleared up, my gf developed a cold at the same time, blocked nose, sore throat and a dry cough, hers has lasted all week though and hasn't gone yet, we never get colds at the same time, we never have, i know you all say symptoms alone cant be an indication, but can you tell me if anything i have described sounds like ars symptoms. I'm so bloody scared.

andre,

Just because you and your girlfriend never had a cold at the same time doesn't mean it can't happen. And your cold has NOTHING to do with hiv as you did NOT have a risk for hiv infection.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around you time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
