Hi happy new year to everybody. I was thinking of taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement as I am 57 is this a good idea or not? I know about the eating s balanced diet bit; but that's not always possible.

I asked my infectious disease doctor same question. Also about any foods to encourage or avoid. Her answer: no problem taking any supplements, and no need to avoid or push any particular foods. I'm 52.
Hope it helps

To be honest it would not be a bad idea to talk to your doctor about taking supplements, particularly if your diet is leaving you short and you are not able to adjust this.
Do make sure to check before talking anything with your pharmacist though, as some HIV medications can have interactions with certain supplements & multivitamin combo's.

Usually the drug leaflet has instructions for what not to take within a period of time after or before the arv (e.g. multivitamins with sodium in the formula)...
Asking the doctor would also be recommended.
