Supportive meet, and looking forward to seeing everyone again on the 19th of August.

Topics this week included; Zero HIV Stigma Day, HIV Care, The burden of HIV care on healthcare providers, HIV challenges outside the US, 90-90-90 goals, pandemic inequalities, ageing & hair growth, sex, dating, problems with bathrooms, and TV shows.

  I think we have found a topic to kick off the next meeting with.

So our next meeting in August will be the first anniversary of facilitating these calls.

Hard to imagen a year has already passed. Initially setting this up, I mainly expected it to be newbies with questions about starting treatment etc. Although we have supported people new to living with HIV during the year and discussed living with HIV & HIV news on every call,  these meetings have been a platform to discuss life and challenges far bigger than HIV, and it has been a platform to offer each other support with a good dose of humour.

We have laughed, cried, and supported each other during the year. Thank you to everyone who attended, but special thanks to;  @leatherman, for helping me start these meetings and co-hosting them over the year, and @numbersguy82, kentfrat1783 & Fabio for being regular members & the support over the year.

Looking forward to the next meeting, and sign up if you haven't signed up yet; I think it's a great platform to share a problem and gain support, but its also a good laugh, and we all need that in life.

Oh the Sunday call was such a great one.  It will be great as more come one and even if you can only stay for half the time that would be great.

OMG. has it been a year?!? It sure doesn't feel like it's been that long. It must be the great company on the call.

Initially setting this up, I mainly expected it to be newbies with questions about starting treatment etc. Although we have supported people new to living with HIV during the year and discussed living with HIV & HIV news on every call,  these meetings have been a platform to discuss life and challenges far bigger than HIV, and it has been a platform to offer each other support with a good dose of humour.

I thought it would be a lot of newbies too. maybe even too many? But it became a core group (most of my IRL groups ended up this way) with a few other members and newbies dropping in to visit every once in a while. And you can't forget our family members (humans and furry) who have gotten in way of the cams every once in a while.

I look forward to these calls as if I’m meeting with old friends who share so much in common. Our diagnosis brought us together, but I like to believe that we’ve forged a genuine bond of friendship. I can’t imagine not hearing about your crazy adventures in photography, Michael’s dogs, Kent’s devotion to his health and world travels. Oh and Fabio always has an exciting story to share as well! Looking forward to the next one! Cheers and hope everyone is enjoying their summers!

The next meeting is in two weeks. Saturday the 2nd of September.

Topics this week included; HIV Care, Stigma, Ageing, Sex, Death, Instagram, Fitness, Movies and TV shows.

Although these calls do touch on serious topics, they have developed into a more lighthearted and social meeting, and the point was raised about the potential need to have more focused peer support. So a couple of members will be working on this, stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks.

Purpose/Scope:
The POZ Monthly Virtual Gathering is a social meeting open to anyone with HIV. Although we also talk about serious topics, including Living with HIV, this is primarily a social meeting, a chance to meet others living with HIV, catch up, talk about life, relax, joke and laugh.

Frequency:
This social meeting is held monthly and on Saturdays. The date of the upcoming meeting is posted in the thread below.
