missed taking meds 2 days this month...
« on: January 14, 2017, 10:18:59 am »
Hi,

I hope that I'm not freaking out but I've missed taking my med's two days this month (they were not consecutive). I'm concerned that this will cause me to be resistance to them being that I just started my meds in 11/2016....any thoughts? I take Triumeq and its once a day. I was reading online that to prevent resistance, I have to take them 95% of the time or I can't miss no more than one dose/day. Since I can't get in to see my doctor til 1/31 for blood work to see, I've been feeling a little anxious and impatient...

Hey Dallas nk

You should be fine.  This whole thing with strict adherence is a vestige from the old days of Hiv treatment when people had to take meds several times per day, having to set alarms to get up at weird hours because not a lot of research had been done and before drug boosters came along.
You should be fine.  The meds now have longer half lifes. They are more forgiving than regimines of the past.
And even if the virus dies re-emerge, it doesn't necessarily mean resistance will happen.  I wouldn't freak out over two days missed.

Indeed agree with Mightsure, you have no need to stress.

Just try to be 100% adherent if possible and keep in mind that life happens just don't let missing dozes become a routine.

Pillfob is handy to have help remember.

My doctor says that missing one day or two will not be a problem.
It is not recommended, though.  Please don't worry.

My doc say - more meds have 1/2 C-time (med half-life time)- min 5 days. Till 4 days have no problem but that must be exception, not often. You must take your meds every day in the same time +/- 3-4 hours.
