Hey there! Can you tell us some more about your situation? How did you find out about your diagnosis? What's your VL or cd4 counts? What meds have you been prescribed? Answering those questions for us can give us a better understanding of your situation, and give you better support.

Hello 42 y/o male that is feeling quite overwhelmed at the moment. I had oral sex and FROT with grinding between the cheeks twice in December. No penetration but i know there was risk of precum leaking and possible friction from the grinding.. my 10 mins of insanity…Last time was December 11th to be exact.  Last week, i had a “rash” running down my arm not itchy but painful to touch. Ive also been feeling really tired lately so I took an over counter oral rapid test on 1/22 of which i noticed a slight faint line. So i ran out and got another one and it didn’t seem to have a faint line and appeared to be negative. I’ve never experienced a faint line before with an oraquick test so I went to the clinic to get tested. On 1/24/2024 by INSTI finger prick test. Finger prick test yielded a negative result, but when i asked the guy how accurate it was he said they are about 73% accurate since my exposure was only in Dec. I am a nervous wreck waiting on the results to come back. Oraquick says if there is even a faint line it’s a positive reactive result. Does anyone have experience with faint poz line with oraquick tests?

What oral sex? More details, please. Was it receiving and giving a blowjob? Any other sexual activity over the past three months?

Nothing to do with HIV for several reasons. See your healthcare provider and get it treated.

Just received head

Receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

FROT with grinding between the cheeks twice in December.

Also, not an HIV risk.

Also, not an HIV risk.  Lacks any of the biological and environmental conditions needed to acquire HIV.

In short, you had no HIV risk from what you posted here, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

However, I don't know if you are telling me everything, and as there was a reactive screening test, get a lab result to confirm your negative HIV status and then move on with your life.

Please do not post about this no-HIV risk situation again; thank you!

Oraquick says if there is even a faint line it’s a positive reactive result.

It's not a positive result or a diagnosis; you only used a screening test. A reactive result only and things like cross-antibody reactions and user errors (Such as reading the result after too much time) can give false reactive results. We see false reactive results here regularly; there is no need to overthink things or get ahead yourself.

Now, as mentioned, you had no HIV risk from what you posted here, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.  However, I don't know if you are telling me everything, and as there was a reactive screening test and I am unwilling to troubleshoot user errors over the forum, go get a lab result to confirm your negative HIV status and then move on with your life. Given the stress this has caused you, don't use OTC or POCT (rapid) tests next time you want to test.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim
