Are you cooking or eating?
« on: May 13, 2007, 10:56:49 pm »
I am preparing dinner and I thought I cannot remember when was the last time I used something that goes directly from the package to the oven or the microwave. Are you cooking or eating?

Tonight, I was eating, because I am watching my friend's dogs and I just grabbed something from their fridge....sausage and olives...what a dinner.....

I love to cook but its not so great when you cook for one....I love cooking for a group...

I would be much happier if I had a man to cook for....but I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding a good man to cook for.....although my requirements are getting lower...anyone out there still breathing ?......lol

I'm an eater and a washer.  Hubby generally cooks, and I always clean the dishes and kitchen.  It's not a bad arrangement; how creative does one need to be in cleaning?  Plus, it's hard to ruin a good meal by dishwashing!

Never cooking and never washing here...

I live alone and spend most of the day at work, and arrive home very late (over 10pm) so no wishes to cook at that time.

I have lunch and dinner outside. About breakfast.... i have never had breakfast in my life.

PS: for the record I do know how to cook (few things at least) but i prefer to eat!!

I'm definately a cook. Even if I start with something from a can, by the time I'm done with it, it's something completely different.
Last night:  Lasagne from scratch.
Tonight: Artichokes, steamed with butter and garlic, followed by Grilled pork steaks and potatoes.

I eat out way too often, since being diagnosed.  Sometimes breakfast, lunch and dinner :(

Sometimes have cereal at home for breakfast. If and when I cook, it's a salad (that comes out of a package), some rice that you put in the microwave for 2 minutes with a chicken pot pie that goes into the microwave for 5 minutes.

Guess that makes me an eater... a bad eater.

Ohhh that must be the sound of the microwave... gotta go!!!

I have eaten alone at restaurants maybe 10 times in my life. I hate it. I'd rather cook for myself and eat alone at a hotel or at my home. Eating alone at a restaurant is so depressing  >:(

Don't think I'm going to some fancy restaurant by myself.
Although there are probably 15 different eateries within a 2 block radius from where I live... not counting the damn food court in the mall. They are evil I say. They call my name... I then call friends... I'm doomed I say or I'll just have to move.

I didn't used to be like this... Maybe I'll find my cooking and sexual mojo again. Since cooking and sex do have a connection.

I have really lost interest in eating out especially with all the horror stories you hear. I prefer to cook.Even though my son lives with me, he likes to eat things you can nuke. I prefer to cook, it seems you get the real flavor.

This time of year I really like firing up the grill with some asparagus, onions, tomatos, corn on the cobb, chicken, shrimp, burgers etc...

& I eat out ALONE all the time. You have to when you don't have anyone to eat with. Cooking for one is hard to do. I end up eating too much or throwing out what I didn't eat.

I eat.

Unless I'm at my boyfriend's house, and then I cook, however badly it turns out, because if I don't neither of us eat. Or he'll eat a bag of chips or something.

Shudder.

I fluctuate between going all out cooking and eating a pile of sandwiches with a huge bag of salt and vinegar crisps. Depends on my mood. Whatever I eat is usually followed by chocolate of some description, usually dark. And I can eat a huge bag of salt and vinegar crisps even after a huge cooked meal. I really should be the size of an elephant! ;D

Yesterday, I was given a gift of a bag of fresh fish, caught that morning by my friend's dad. I cleaned, gutted and oven-baked them all with herbs garlic onion and tomato. Ate half yesterday and other half today with piles of salady stuff.

Fish cleaning/gutting=bleurgh (grumbled all the way through it!)
Eating=yummy and worth going through the bleurgh bit

I am not allowed to cook for the two of US...I only cook when I want something to eat that only I can cook and eat.  Kurt has such strict dietary constraints and PREFERENCES....that I cannot cook for him.  Its sad but true.
He even cooks me Sunday breakfast of eggs and bacon but can't eat it himself.

cook for sure.
I love the kitchen, it's my private lab where I get to experience tastes, smells, textures, sounds....
I even wanted to cook for a living, but being POZ kept me from that.

kitchen = big pantry for all my meds

what is that thing with four round coil-ey things on top and a door on the front?

I dust it off occasionally......   ;)

yep it would be good place to meet poz people (hiv infected or those with pozitive attitude :D). Plus you can serve all type of food... and since you are one of us we can be sure your food is "safe" :)

you never know.. you can even have in your happy hour menu a  cocktail of atripla mixed with something else :)

I dust my kitchen weekly.  My fridge contains meds, bottled water, diet pepsi, iced tea, beer, assorted alcohol, kraft singles (for the dog),  coffee, flavored creamer, and some out dated jelly.  My freezer has more alcohol, eggos, cigarettes, poppers, ice cubes, frozen yogurt, toaster struddle, and those little bite sized peanut butter cups.

I am an eatter.  I used to be a cooker, but, it is just easier to eat out or toast a waffle or struddle.  I live in Hillcrest we have tons of resturants that I can walk to which provides good exercise and if I have a craving for fruit, I walk to gay Ralphs or whole foods and get some fresh stuff.  I will not eat any fruit or veggies that have been in my house longer than 24 hours.

SD (who is neurotic about rotted food and germs in the kitchen)

ps - I forgot to mention butter, it is in my fridge and I eat the real stuff!

Both actually....these days I don't cook like I use to.  I've managed to find all kinds of short cuts and easy to make recipes.
Eating these days is a challenge...since my esophagus shrank its hard to get pills and food down.

I guess I need more info on working in the food industry and being POZ.
I went to the Art Institute and I had to answer to a series of health related question on my application.  I lied, which I hate doing, about my HIV status.
I finished the course and have a chef certificate.  But I have been afraid on any legal consequenses if I were to get a job in the business and hide my status. ???
