Worried about possible HIV infection
« on: July 20, 2017, 10:04:11 am »
Good afternoon for everybody,

I have been lately visiting escorts, I always have had vaginal sex with them with protection but also sometimes I have had oral sex from me to them without it and also vice versa.

Last two relationships were three weeks ago and a week ago, last Wednesday. This last Friday I developed bacterial pharyngitis with a fever that lasted two days more or less. I am a lot better but I continue taking oral antibiotics, the treatment that my doctor prescribed me was for 8 days.

Today my inner arm started itching, and when I realized I had a rash with red dots and the skin that surrounded them was also irritated. I stopped scratching it and now it looks better with a pinkish color.

I am really worried about these symptoms being an acute HIV infection. The last time I had an HIV test was a few months ago because I am a blood donor.

Thanks.

Blood donations and STI testing is not the same.

You should be checking for STI's & HIV yearly at least and not relying on blood donations to tell you . It's asking for tears.

Anyhow getting your penis sucked is no hiv risk, neither is giving a woman oral.

We don't discuss symptoms here, if you are sick see your doctor and treat whatever is causing the ongoing problems

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you for your reply,
I don't rely on blood donation to tell me if I am infected. But is the last blood analysis that I had, they test your blood in case you have HIV, hepatitis...

I went to my doctor, now I don't feel ill, but I have that red spots on my arm.

An HIV test would be reliable only after 9 days of the risk intercourse?

If you had unprotected intercourse test at 6 & 13 weeks post exposure.
See links in my signature for more info.

Again blood bank means nothing in terms of testing of STI's and looking after yourself.
If you already knew that why bring it up on the first post.

""but I have that red spots on my arm."""

As said see a doctor we don't discuss symptoms.
So go back and treat them if it bothers you.
