Am I HIV exposed as well?
« on: February 27, 2016, 04:01:07 pm »
Your forum has been doing a great job, thank you. Sorry for the long post and I wanted  to provide as many details as possible so the knowledgeable people can help better.

1) I am a male, 45. Had an encounter 2 months back with 2 women separately. The acts are similar in both encounters.

2) Details of the encounter are: Both myself and her bodies were completely naked. I wore No condom, complete touching of body and I have kissed her body and face. She masturbated herself for  while like 3 minutes. With her hand, with vaginal fluids, she tried to pull my foreskin on penis , which was near her chest with no condom. I am not circumcisioned and my foreskin is little tight. I removed her hand from my penis and I masturbated my self and ejaculated on her body. My penis was never close to her genitals in both encounters and it was at her breasts , but was without condom. I was worried about stds so I did not have any penetration. But the mistake I made was lying on her with out condom.

3) Same day after encounter, as my penis was hurting I looked at it and there was a little bit skin scratch in circular shape on penis forehead and it burnt.

4) Flu occurred 2 days later.

5) week later unmistakable symptoms started: urination penis sting, scrotum swelling and pain, feeling uncomfortable walking with underwear on. I clearly then knew encounter and symptoms are related and this is the first time I tried this kind of encounter in my life.

6) 3 weeks later got tested for all std panel (chlamydia, gannaeria, HSV1, HSV2, hiv, syphilis, Hepatitis a, b , c. All came back negative.

7) Met doctor 6 weeks after the encounter. At this time, pulling back foreskin was very difficult and forskin is sticking onto penis, with some white layer on foreskin. And I told him I applied monostat which is used for yeast uinfection. He took a swab from my pulled back foreskin and came back with a quick nucleotide test and he said I had chlamydia trachomatis (he also said it's not 100% because only culture test will porve it) and prescribed me 7 day 2 tablet course of Doxycyline (I think 100 mg). He said no gannearia and no yeast infection.

8) Completed Doxycycline course and now it's 10 days after Chlamydia antiobiotics Doxycycline completed. The penis pain is now about 5% and testicle pain also reduced but still have about 20% of the pain. I will revisit doctor if symptms do not go away. I can not retake chlamydia test atleast 3 weeks after the treatment is complete.

10) At this point I do not have syphilis, hsv1 or hsv2 symptoms.

11) I need to wait another month to get HIV tested to meet 12 month criteria and also need to wait for atleast another week for chlamydia test. I am planning to get all STDs tested in a month.

Now my questions are:

1) I am really surprised that I acquired chlamyida without penetration but through her hand with vaginal fluid touching my penis. Google research seems to suggest that penetration is the route to get it, but I got it without penetration.

2) Chlamydia is by bacteria while HIV is by Virus. Since I got chlamydia without penetration, I am worried I might have acquired HIV as well?

3) How long can chlamydia bacteria survive outside body and can penetrate through urethra of penis vs HIV virus. Since chlamydia entered from outside the body can HIV do the same in my case?

4) At this point my main worry is about the possibility of HIV through the actions I mentioned.

I made a huge mistake of exposing my penis without candom due to ignorance. Any help on my questions is appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi,

You have not had risk for HIV , Also your symptoms have nothing to do with hiv and we do not discuss them, so please speak to your doctor about what is making you sick .

Now please be assured I did read your post and all the points very carefully. Let me be very clear nothing you mentioned was a risk for HIV at all, If what you posted was your only concern with regards to HIV it's safe for you to move on. You can read about more on Transmission and Risks here: HIV Transmission and Risks

HIV does not survive outside the human body (such as on surfaces), once hiv finds itself outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH / moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for all (STI's) sexually transmitted infections together.

As you are sexually active, it is highly recommended that you get a full sexual health check-up / screening at least annually including but not limited to hiv testing.

Remember that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's. So please do get fully tested regularly for all STI's including HIV and more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs. Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

Finally use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, to avoid sexually transmitted hiv infection.

Kind regards

Jim

Thanks for your reply. I am little bit relieved now.

Are you saying chlamydia CAN be transmitted without penetration but HIV CAN'T be?

Many stds are much easier to transmit than HIV and yes, chlamydia can remain viable and infectious for time outside the human body where as HIV quickly becomes damaged and unable to infect under the same circumstances .
