Songs that would make things suddenly awkward.
« on: August 14, 2007, 11:44:49 pm »
I think I was discussing this with Matty before.

There are some songs that would be utterly awkward to come on the radio while you're making out/having sex with someone.

For instance (but only in the case of HIV+ people): Disease by Matchbox 20 (which was actually on my playlist while I was making out with my boyfriend and it made me laugh madly), Toxic by Britney Spears.

There was this song that came on Pop Up Video while we were doing stuff also, I forget what it was, but the Pop Ups on the video were stuff about the rates of STD transmission among teens and we were like just like, "....".
What a mood killer.

As much as I hate Brittany, I use to love that song Toxic. My thing is how can anyone try to have sex to a rap song... ;D Just made me think of Ludacris, What's your Fantasy....

Probably Tiesto & Maxi Jazz from Faithless' "Dance4Life", which ends with the glorious line:

"HIV/AIDS is lethal."

Always a passion killer, that one.

As much as I love Queen, "another one bites the dust" would cause a few raised eyebrows while making love - although the beat is actually quite suitable.

yes, that one always seems to be played at the gym to ruin any excercise high I may have obtained (Tiesto is a megastar in the Netherlands)

Anything by Queen esp. "the show must go on"; "The Power of Love" by Franky Goes to Hollywood ("I'll protect you from the hooded claw, keep the vampires from you door"... brrr...); Neneh Cherry "I've got you out of my skin" and other songs from the "Red Hot &..." collections; Depeche Mode's "Shake the Disease"; "Tainted Love" (forgot by who?); Prince "sign of the times" (opens with "in France a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name") and Alice Cooper's "Poison" (you're poison, poison running through my veins)

That was by Soft Cell.  I have a dance CD with a song that has a line that says something like 'protect yourself and your bottom brother' and pretty openly refers to wearing a condom (I shoulda listened to that one more!  ;)  ).  I'll have to find it and see what it actually says.  That definitely would put a damper on getting it on!

Was with a guy once around the Christmas holidays and he had this sort of seasonal compilation playing from his computer.

It wasn't too bad- mainly instrumental type stuff.  However it really wasn't that much of a great mood setter for me and I asked him to change the music.  Instead he just lowered it and I decided it wasn't a deal breaker so I just went with it.  Actually to be honest I was getting a little into the whole sex under the tree type of thing and was starting to enjoy it ... until Alvin and The Chipmunks came on.

Generation Got It's Own Disease

a few of the lyrics...

I think that I'm too young to die
love that girl and say goodbye
change the girls like underwear
using bodies without care
the love has gone and what we've got
is sweet perfume of sex and blood

and believe me baby every generation
got its own disease
and I've got mine so help me please
believe me baby every generation
got its own disease
and I've got mine babe so help me please

Hey Jaser,

In Classic radio and collections everywhere can be found Elton John's Tumbleweed Connection, with a song "Talking Old Soldiers".  I pull it out of the archives every time a friend dies... "Do you know what it like to have a graveyard as a friend, cause thats where they have gone, all of them."  Then, I put it away until the next... Not a party song in my heart.  Have the best day
Michael
