Me, too.  I read about it in POZ about one-half hour before it aired, so watched it.  The documentary was very well done and did touch upon the good and difficult in his life.  Amazing that he had financial problems, so shame on those who didn't give him the endorsements he deserved after his Olympic feats (over two Olympics!), due to his perceived sexual orientation (before he came out as gay of HIV+).

It's great that he is such a survivor, both of HIV and otherwise, that he persevered through it all and seems to have ended up with peace of mind and a loving partner. He is something of an inspiration to all of us.   I'm sure HBO will be airing it several times over the month, so do catch it if you can.  It is a testament of the times and a thorough biography of a champion's spirit.  Never give up.  Endure and you will survive.

I will have to watch it.  I remember hearing him say he smoked.  That really surprised me.  But, he was a diver and not a swimmer.  I was also surprised to see Caitlyn (then Bruce) smoke, as well.  Just proves even athletes aren't all health all the time.  In a way, it made them seem more relatable.

I watched it ,was very good !
As for the smoking , It was the 70s probably ,
and wasn't as taboo ,even for athletes...
Things were much different, I was there.
35-40 years is a long time , things change .

True that, about smoking.  Remember, Virginia Slims cigarettes used to sponsor women's tennis professional events  :o

I knew that Louganis had won those medals and that he came out about his status.. What I didn't know is that while he was competing, that he knew he was hiv+.. And during that time it's like saying "your gonna die".. with that on his mind he still won gold, now that's a true champion.. And he seems like such a sweet guy too.
