At risk?
« on: December 21, 2008, 08:44:59 pm »
WOndering if I need to test for HIV based on the following:

5-6 years ago:

Had multiple partners all female (Some used IV drugs):

All encounters of vaginal / Anal sex - used condoms (Noticed a tear at the base twice, head in tact.

Gave and recieved unprotected oral from these partners.

Symptoms - Extremly Dry scalp and forhead, fatigue.

I take prozac so perhaps the fatigue is from that.

Even though I had a few tears the the condom base did any of these instances place me at HIV risk?  Our local health department said no but I wanted to concur with experts here.

Thanks

From what you have desribed I'd agree with your Health Department, this is not an HIV situation.

However...even though you do not need to test over this incident, and considering you are sexually active you should be having a full STD check up at least once a year, and please keep in mind by agreeing to have unprotected sex you run the risk of a possibile infection from all STD's.

Use condoms for anal/vaginal sex at all times...NO EXCEPTIONS.

Thanks for the response, I was concerned about the base tears but I figured the tip of my penis was protected.

If the tip of your penis was protected then you have nothing to worry about, it is still classed as protected sex..just keep using the condoms and you will be fine...it's good to hear you are doing the right thing and taking responsibility for your's and your partners health.
