Human bite
« on: April 06, 2007, 10:16:46 am »
I recently was bitten by a stripper on the nipple.  It broke the skin and now has a scab. No idea hiv status of biter. A couple questions.

What is the risk of hiv infection for this?

I have read only if blood is present in biters mouth.

How are you supposed to know if there is blood in the mouth?
Does this mean alot of blood which would be apparent or saliva with traces of blood which is more common?

Do I need to seek any sort of treatment for this?

Thanks

No, not an HIV risk.  I would say that would require Nosferatu amounts of blood in the mouth.  She'd have to be all Count Dracula on you for that to even be a conceivable risk.
AIDS isn't for sissies.

Bug, like Hunter said this was not a risk for HIV transmission. What you experienced is a not uncommon happening and there's never been a case of transmission in such a manner.

Read our lesson on Transmission. There's a connection to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. You get all the basics there about what is risky and what isn't.

This time out you don't have to be further concerned.

Cheers,

Just double checking this as now 10 days out I have a sore throat (no strep), high fever and night sweats.  I believe that I am at no risk but it seems strange on the timing.  It is amazing how that works.

HIV is NOT transmitted in this way.  Your symptoms are unrelated to HIV.
LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!

Amazing or not, your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

This is NOT and HIV situation. Period.
