Well that was stupid!
« on: December 17, 2008, 06:00:34 pm »
This is embarrassing!

I woke up last night with a sense of some serious intestinal distress (translation:  I needed to get to the bathroom!  Yep, still having tummy problems!   >:().

I turned on the lamp, found my glasses, put them on, then turned the lamp off.  (That was the stupid part--why did I have a need for my glasses to see, then turn off the lamp so I couldn't see?   ???)

I jumped out of bed, headed across the room.

WHAM!

I ran smack dab into the edge of the door (which was standing ajar).

I've got a cut over my right eyebrow, a split upper lip, and a broken pair of glasses!   :-[

(I told you it was stupid!   ;))

Bled like crazy.

Lesson to self:  "You don't need to see to go poo!  Just go for goodness sake!"

RAB, we know that you were trying not to wake DF.  That was so thoughtful of you.  I hope that he bandaged your wounds and cuddled until you fell back to sleep.

Love and hugs, R&T

RAB sweetie, you know I love you more than my luggage (my apologies to Steel Magnolias).

But I must tell you, I had a bit of a laugh when I pictured you doing that.  I know, my bad.

I also will echo Little Steve's question: Did you or didn't you make it to the head without making a big mess?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Seriously though, I hope you heal up and feel better soon.

Oh, and next time, leave the damn light on. DF will be grateful too.*

HUGS,

Mark

OH darling RAB.  OUCH!

My Tummy has been acting up lately.  I've learned that when your body says now, it means NOW.  I've had some bad and embarassing situations lately.  One night I neglected to use the restroom at the restaurant.... I hate public restrooms... they are nasty.  I didn't make it home.  It was a humiliating experience.  Thank God I made it inside and didn't make a mess in my truck.  Lesson Learned:  A nasty restroom beats driving home trying to squeeze your ass shut while your body fights you.  Remember, NOW MEANS NOW.

My other favorite is when you think you are going to pass gas and your body fools you.  I really hate that.  Fortunately, I work from home so I can change and shower when needed.

Something I ate this last weekend got my tummy excited again and gave me the squirts.  Ugh I hate that.

I find that making a point of eating yogurt seems to help restore regularity.  Seems like the meds upset my GI tract from time to time and the yogurt soothes things and recolonizes it.  Small price to pay compared to what many others tolerate.

Anyhow, you aren't alone, so don't sweat it.  These things don't happen often, but it's the kind of thing that brings you down a notch and reminds you to be thankful for what you have.
Don't obsess over the wrong things.  Life isn't about your numbers, it isn't about this forum, it isn't about someone's opinion.  It's about getting out there and enjoying it.   I am a person with HIV - not the other way around.

The bigger question is WHO left the door ajar?!

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, attributed to the inimitable Jack Nicholson, for those over 65:

*Never waste an erection.

Rab,

;)  Did you let out a few choice words after all that?  :o       I know I would have !! Probably would have woke up a few neighbors ! Here's hoping you heal up nice and fast !!

I decided a while back, that whenever I get out of bed, I need to sit on the edge of the bed for at least a minute, before I even attempt to move, kind of plot my course !  ;) I hate walking into things !!

Take care---Ray

Mark, David, Little Steve, and Cliff:

I've officially placed all of you on my "lpeople to smack list"!  That'll teach you!

(And just for the record, yes I did make it to the bathroom!  So there!  :P)

To everyone else, thanks for your sympathies.  I've been wanting a new pair of glasses anyway!  Sigh--just didn't think I'd have to get them this way!  Lordy!

Honey, we're not as young as we used to be.  Us old folks have to have a little night light, you know....I certainly have one (or two or three).

When you see what the new glasses will cost, you'll REALLY feel bad.....

hugs & kisses,

Alan
