PEP? Rough Frottage
« on: December 04, 2012, 07:02:28 am »
Hi,

So 48 hours ago I had sex with a friend which consisted of oral with a cold sore (I know this is no risk), but there was also rough frottage where he was pressing against my ass pretty rough and his penis may have slipped in slightly a couple times. He doesn't precum that much and he didn't ejaculate on my asshole or inside at all. Because we were tired, we never finished but I work up the next morning with a sore ass. How much of a risk was this? Should I consider PEP? (I can't be sure how far he got in, but probably not too far in because we didn't use lube yet and I am very sensitive back there) Is this the same risk as unprotected anal sex? Are the odds in my favor or heavily against me?

I'm also afraid because that same day I got caught in the rain and now I am getting a sore throat and fever. I know it's too early for ARS, but  I am worried my immune system is weakened and more susceptible to getting an HIV infection. Or, I am worried that I won't be able to see if I get ARS symptoms because of this cold/flu.

Please help and thank you in advance.

You never had an exposure and nPEP is out of the question.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

Hi RapidRod,

I know that as long as it was outside I'm safe, but he entered me a few times when he was pressing against me and I was sore, so I am afraid there were tears ways for the virus to enter.

Had you been penetrated you wouldn't be saying "he may have," you would have known without a doubt.

That's fair, but I had a few drinks with him earlier. Can you please assess my risk if he did enter?

oral with a cold sore

Oral with a cold sore isn't a risk for hiv, but it certainly IS a risk for herpes. "Cold sores" are another way of saying herpes and a cold sore coming into contact with a person's genitals will give that person genital herpes.

Keep your herpes to yourself (if you were the one who had the cold sore). Don't let someone who has a "cold sore" give you head either. Understand?
