Healthcare Worker with possible exposure? Please Help me...

On May 3rd I gave a injection to my patient using a vanish point needle. I clicked the button, the medication went in but after I did that I felt something hit my eye. It was very light more like a mist. I then put the syringe in the biohazard container. Do you think I may be exposed to HIV? The way the vanish point needles work is you have to push the syringe hard and then the needle retracts back into the syringe. I initially thought the pressure and force caused some of the vaccine to kind of shoot out which hit my eye. I didn't think it was contaminated with blood but now I'm second guessing myself. I told my doctor and she gave me a HIV test on June 1st which was 29 days after the incident. It was negative. She didn't seem concerned about it. I wanted a PCR but couldn't afford it. I also developed a rash like to days later on my leg but then progressed on my chest but my dermatologist diagnosed it as pityrasis rosea. Otherwise Im fine

You didn't have an exposure in the situation you've provided.

I agree with Rod that you were not at risk in the incident you are concerned about. And I don't see a need for further testing.

It does seem to me that you and perhaps other staff members would benefit from getting some brush up clarity about what is risky and what isn't in the work you are doing. I suggest asking whoever is in charge to provide that for you and other staff members who do the same kind of work that you do.

Usually when someone speaks up it becomes evident that a concern is shared by others.
