Title: Working with a Gay Dr.
Post by: TakingAChance on March 14, 2011, 02:14:10 pm
I tested Positive on Feb. 7th. I had 3 test taken for HIV. All Reactive. I suspected I was positive though. I use to go to a straight Dr. Not to knock him. he is a great Doc. Just that I had all the usual symptoms and was treated for them normally. I was sick with a flu like illness that lasted a month. I travel over sea's for work so I thought I picked something up there. He treated it with antibiotics. 2 months later, I had pain in my groin. I was checked for a hernia. he thought I pulled a muscle traveling. It lasted for 2-3 month though. Now I know it was my lymphnodes. The first to swell up. Then 2-3 months later I had 4 nodes in my neck swell up and get pretty hard. I had an abcess tooth though on the same side so they thought it was my teeth and I got two pulled. I was treated with antibiotics and waited to see if it would heal. They didn't and the next 3 months I realized I also had night sweats pretty bad a few times that year as well? I finally got tested almost a yr. to the date I think I got infected? I traced it back to Dec/2009/Jan2010. I'm pretty sure I know who and how it happened too. Not that it matters now. Spinning thinking their. I got tested on a yrly. basis. Anyway, I found a great Gay Dr. for myself now who is fixing me up finally. He very aggressive about getting you healthy and keeping you healthy.

thats great that you found a good doctor period, gay or straight.  i had a shitty experience with a gay doctor...totally uncaring, rushed and robotic.  thought that it would be important that he be gay, as he understands the culture, etc.   boy was i wrong.  now i have a straight one and he is great.  totally open, non judgemental, cool and calm.  he makes me feel totally at ease in his care.  gay straight, male, female....as long as you are a good doctor, sign me up...
