Low Cd-4 count
« on: August 15, 2010, 10:04:16 pm »
I'm on  Prezistsa, Truvada, Norvir, Isentress and Etravirine, VL 2500, t cel count 229
I feel healthy, work full time and do work out. What worries me is that my t-cell count is way too low, and it does not seem to improve...
Any similar experiences?

1 year diagnosed, started with 15 CD4, up to 92 now.  I feel absolutely fine, my biggest issue is occasional fatigue but only when I work hard or long hours.

This is my third med regime...I was diagnosed in 2002, but my strain develops resistance quite often, so I have to monitor my labwork and change meds when they stop working...When I started on my first regime, my cell count was as low as yours...

What's causing the resistance issues?

probably that the strain that I got infected with, already showed resistance, I don't know. This combination I have now seems to bwe working properly. I take my meds religiously and although it is a lot of pills, the side effects are minimal (except the usual Norvir stomach cramps) I am crossing my fingers.

I think I got a multiresistant strain when I got infected Also after 13 years I think they have made a regimine I can use.
1997 is when I found out, being deathly ill. I had to go to the hospital due to extreme headache and fever. I fell coma like,  two months later weighing 95 pounds and in extreme pain and awoke to knowledge of Pancreatis, Cryptococcal Meningitis, Thrush,Severe Diarea,  Wasting, PCP pneumonia. No eating, only through tpn. Very sick, I was lucky I had good insurance with the company I worked for. I was in the hospital for three months that time.
(2010 Now doing OK cd4=210  VL= < 75)
I have become resistant to many nukes and non nukes, Now on Reyataz, , Combivir. Working well for me not too many side effects.  I have the wasting syndrome, Fatigue  . Hard to deal with but believe it or not I have been through worse. Three Pulmonary Embolism's in my life. 2012 520 t's <20 V load

My god, don't scare me like this. When I was diagnosed earlier this year my cd4 was at 8. Its moving up, but I have the same fears you do. My doc has a timeline of 6 months of ARV before my count starts looking better.

Everyone is completely different.  You may go up and up for years to come or you may plateau in a year or even a couple of months.  Only time will tell how much your immune system will recover.

Everyone is completely different.
that's the truth.
it's been almost 20 yrs for me, and I recently got my highest tcell count of a whopping 318.  ;D
but I haven't been in a hospital or had the flu for over 13 yrs, so my 250-300 are working just fine. ;)
who needs a 1000? shoot! I'll probably never reach 500 even LOL :D

I have a t-cell count of three and look and feel better now then I  have in years. I did 10 years on my first regiment and had an average t-cell count of 350 but with major quality of life issues.I took a 5 year break from meds and monitoring then got my ass kicked by M.A.C. and PCP.I now see my self as a recovering denialist he he.
It sounds like you are doing great and sharing your fears here should help a lot
