Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Very worried about exposure

I am currently undergoing testing, and have tested negative 3 times.  The last test was at 7 weeks and 3 days from my one time only exposure.  I am posting here because I did'nt know how else to get what I have found out to other women.  I posted an ad on Singlesnet back in September 2008.  I met one guy, and I do believe he is HIV positive.  I was drinking and we had very brief intercourse.  He entered me twice, without ejaculation before I realized what I was doing, and told him to stop.  After I got to his house, I felt a implanted cardiac defibrillator in his chest.  He told me he had cardiomyopathy, and that it was genetically acquired.  At that time I did not know cardiomyopathy was related to HIV meds.  It wasn't until I looked it up that I found that out.  I have spoken to him 3 or 4 times since our encounter which was on November 15, 2008, and every time he has been sick with a cold.  Now I found out he lives with a gay man, and that man is currently in the hospital with lymphoma.  I have asked this guy numerous times if he is HIV pos, and he says no.  I do not believe him, and will never have any contact with him again, but I will continue to test until 3 months.  As you can imagine I have been online nonstop looking for reassurance that I did not get infected, but still feel I may have been infected by him.  So the reason for this post is that last night I went to Poz, and went into the personals, and it took me straight to Singlesnet, and I even checked the box that said HIV positive and looking.  I was shocked.  In fact it took me straight to my email box.  The one that I had where he responded.  I am wanting to know if anyone else who is positive posts on Singlesnet.  I'm thinking maybe this guy thought I was positive also, and that's how we came in contact.

I had a one time exposure on November 15.  I am very sure the man is HIV positive, but did not figure it out until after our encounter.  I did ask, and he said he was not positive.  I have given up trying to find out for sure whether he is or is not positive, and have been testing for my own sake.  He entered me 4 or 5 times without  ejaculation.  I tested on December 18 with Oraquick Advance, and was negative.  I tested again on January 6, again with Oraquick  Advance, and it was negative.  I tested the same day at a different clinic, and that was a finger stick, the test was called stat pak or something like that and it was negative.  What do you think my odds are that I will become positive at 12 or 13 weeks.

We don't play the what do you think. Get your conclusive test next month and you'll know for sure. Next time use condoms. They are excellent in preventing HIV and other STDs.

I have merged your posts, please keep to this thread when asking questions from now on.

The only forums you are allowed to post in are the "AM I" when asking question regarding your risks..please do not post in the "Positive Womens" forum.

If you read the Welcome Thread it gives you all the posting guidlines, please read them and follow them..thank you for your cooperation.

Today I had my 4th rapid test and it was negative, I am 9 days shy of 12 weeks.  I am very relieved.  I also tested for syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia on 1/14/09, and got those results today, and they were negative also.  I have an appointment for another rapid test on 2/16, but that one is with blood from the finger and rapid.  I am very confident that will be negative also.  I truly feel I dodged a bullet, and I tell all my friends about what happened and for them to be careful and to use condoms.  I got the courage I needed to have the tests by looking through the posts on here.  I want to think Ann and Andy for their responses to so many people who had tests before the 12 week mark, and stated that the vast majority of people who will become positive will do so by 6 weeks.  That really helped me through these last weeks.  Thanks again, and I now truly have a understanding of how easy one can become infected.

Congrats on your happy test result. As long as you consistently use condoms where you are insertive or receptive, you will be very well protected as far as HIV sexual transmission is concerned.
