Hello...I had a sexual encounter with a female a few times..we did NOT have intercourse...just oral sex.   I went down on her a few times...she gave me oral (blowjob) in which I ejaculated in her mouth.

What are they HIV risks associated with these encounters..  I appreciate your time..

What you posted here wasn't an HIV risk to you. Move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Hello...I'm a healthcare worker and just wanted to ask a question.  A patient who is a Hep C carrier (undetectable recent viral load) returned an item to the pharmacy and I touched it with my bare hands. I bite my fingers a lot and had a small open cut on my thumb and maybe a tiny cut on my index finger. I noticed on the package that there was some wet blood (unsure if it was my own or the patients) I contacted my employers Occupational exposure department and they said this is a no risk event and nothing needs to be done. Would you concur? I'm just trying to put my mind at ease?  Also should I be concerned about HIV?

they were correct in that this was a no risk event. HIV is fragile and difficult to transmit. No one has been infected once it has been exposed outside the human host.

Hello,

I'm an anxious individual and had a question regarding HIV. Today I went to get a haircut and the hairdresser accidentally nicked a mole on my neck with the electric razor. It bled but not too much.

Is this considered an HIV risk?  Do I need to test or can I safely assume no testing is needed?

Read your post three times, it's zero HIV risk.

Your adult non-occupational HIV risks are limited;

* Sex; Condomless intercourse & a minute (theoretical) HIV risk if you give a blowjob.
* Sharing drugs rigs (Syringes)
* Blood products/ transfusions (Rare nowadays in most nations thanks to screening)

Hello...I received an unprotected blowjob (I understand no risk) and I have no other risk that I'm aware of.  I'm due for my yearly STD checkup however I'm petrified to get HIV tested as my son just tested positive for Covid.

I read only that having a positive Covid test can produce false positive HIV tests. Is this true?? Should I postpone my appointment?  I was recently with my son so I will most likely test positive for Covid soon as well. My STD is this upcoming Thursday.

HIV is transmitted by unprotected anal/vaginal sex or by sharing injection needles. Oral sex is NOT a risk.

some people with active covid infections have tested a false positive for HIV. if you go through with the tests you describe and you do get a positive HIV it will NOT be from an infection based on the situation you reported here.

No. You should be testing for COVID as you son has COVID.

There is no need to specifically screen for common seasonal inflections or covid before routine STI & HIV screening and neither you or your patients should be concerned with this

What can happen but it's rare is a false reactive result on screening test due to cross antibodies reactions to other past or current infections, but this isn't an issue as a reactive result simply means further testing is needed to exclude an HIV infection and nothing more. No drama needed.

So go get your routine STI screening as normal unless you are COVID positive as in that case you should ideally be isolating.

So my ex just tested positive as well..I'm not sure what do.   Do I test for Covid the day of my STI screening ang go from there?

Your ex and son have COVID. General rule is if you have symptoms, test right away. Otherwise wait five days to test after exposure if you do not have symptoms.

... This is a HIV forum, not COVID Q&A. Check the COVID test patient insert or consult your healthcare provider.

The recommended testing algorithm is if there is a reactive Antigen/antibody combination immunoassay, then test with   a antibody HIV 1-2 differentiation test and should this be indeterminate or reactive a NAT test to confirm.

Although in practice HIV 1-2 differentiation test is skipped and reactive antibody test is followed up with a HIV 1 & 2 NAT.

Anyhow it's not something you need to worry or stress about

Which is why I’m terrified to test given the chance I may have Covid at the time of my STD testing.

But if a false positive occurs..an NAT would disprove that regardless if I’m understanding correctly..

Yeah, a screening test isn't a diagnosis. A reactive result simply means follow up testing is needed to rule out HIV.

For the last time, getting a blowjob isn't an HIV risk. Condomless intercourse would be accepting an HIV risk regardless of the other persons previous test results.
