Am I seroconverting?
« on: March 05, 2023, 04:11:49 am »
Hello All,
I'm a male and I'm worried of my symptoms. I'm not sure whether my test results are conclusive.
I have exposed on Jan 15 2023. It was protected vaginal intercourse and unprotected cunnilingus with a sex worker of unknown status.
After 3weeks i got my lymph nodes under my jaw swollen and after 5weeks I fell the swollen lymph often painful and it is spread to the lymph on collar and right armpit. Also I feel pain around my neck often.
Today as 48th day, I'm experiencing random muscle aches.

I had the following tests negative:
After 9days and 13days: HIV-1 PCR RNA
After 22days, 31days,35days,on 42nd day - 4th gen antigen/antibody lab test

9th and 22nd day Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis test
22nd and 35th day HBV HBsAg, HCV antibody test

Cunnilingus isn't an HIV risk to you, and as for the intercourse, HIV can't transmit through an intact latex or polyurethane condom. Unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening.

So, in short, you had no HIV exposure from the sex worker, and there was no need to run out and test; you did anyway, and the result was non-reactive.

The lymph nodes can swell for various reasons, so see your healthcare provider to check them and the muscle aches so they can treat you as needed.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Hello Jim

Thank you for your response.

One thing I'm worried now is my CD4/CD8 ratio is 0.63 on day 46.

Is this really due HIV response by the body?

No, as your test results are non-reactive, and you didn't have an HIV risk, so you don't have HIV, unless you have had other or ongoing exposures not mentioned here.

I'm worried that I have tested with negative HIV-1 RNA PCR test after day 52 also. But I'm still experiencing painful lymph nodes under my jaw for the last 4weeks.
Is this a case were I've a rare strain that become undetectable on any HIV test?
Please tell me, if someone have experienced the same symptoms.

I don't care about the PCR test and you already listed the other test results that are non-reactive, and that's no surprise as you didn't have an HIV risk, so you don't have HIV unless you have had other or ongoing exposures not mentioned here.

100%.

Plenty of HIV-negative people have had and will have swollen lymph nodes; it's common enough. So see your healthcare provider so they can check and treat whatever is making you sick.

Please don't post about this again - Thank you!
