newbie here and hello to everyone
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:38:49 pm »
hi all i am new to this site... so not really sure how to work around it yet.   i am gay asian in texas been diagnosed with hiv+  in 98'  and have been undetectable for many years.  but still seem to be struggling with telling everyone about my status because i am afraid of the common stigma of being neglegted or being looked down upon.  currently taking meds and dealing with side effects.  on top of which i am also just been diagnosed with depression and have just newly taken meds for that too.   i am living with a partner for 17 wonderful years.  of which half of it has been an open one.  by the way my partner is negative and always want to keep it that way.  i also have family issues partaining being gay and being sick as well.   have had tb in 98 as well .  and in 2005 was diagnosed and went through very extensive chemo and radiation treatment for colorectal cancer.  i am currently not working because of the many side effects of the meds which is keeping me from maintaining a job.   i am glad that i can share some of my life experiences with other people that knows what i am going through and to some effect get some information and help as well.

Welcome to the forums.  I think you'll find this place helpful for many of the issues you've mentioned.  I feel that only those who are dealing with disease completely understands all the dynamics of what's involved.

Txasnguy,  Welcome to our world. Chemo is the pits is it not? Only the alternative is worse . So with your history I think you can post in Long term Survivors also .
Hope you find the group as supportive as I do.
Take care

Welcome tx to this great website which is a great online supplement to any help you get hands-on in your life.  As a person living with HIV and who has been sick in the '90's I have found great info, companionship and help from the folks here.  As far as your family and relationships go, take your own time, stay well and things usually fall into place.  Better days ahead!
