Conference attended
« on: June 26, 2010, 08:59:02 pm »
I went to conference given by Laboratories Merck , here in Merida , Mexico.
Can you believe only 5 persons show up at one of the conference halls at the Local Holiday Inn.
Even with buffet breakfast included.
There were 4 nurses and me .

The main topic of the lecturer was adherence to the treatment.
His last picture frame was a square with the 4 key elements for treatment.

Treatment used
Patient cooperation(empathy with your DR)
Gov. paying for the Treatment.
Availability of the drug ( sometimes you cannot find it )

He said that adherence of   more 91 %  could probably lead to no change in treatment  for 10 years.

Asking for Atripla in Mexico, even thought its made by his laboratories, he said not yet , theres no agreement yet with Gilead for its use outside the US. But you can get the ingredients and take it with the advice of your Dr, (Efavirenz + Truvada  both available in Mexico.)

By the way the health system in Mexico offers the drugs for free to everyone with the disease providing that you have a job and pay your Social Security Taxes ( Seguro Social ).Of course very slow process , in every country , for Mexico even slower, but the do the offer the latest drugs. Just no Atripla yet, but they do have its ingredients.
