bigpa:

While I don't know of any specific support groups in the East Rand area, I strongly suggest you contact Life Line at 0861 322 322. They're located in East Rand and do a great deal of HIV counseling. Though they may not offer a support group, they will most definitely be able to refer you to another organization that does, either in East Rand proper or within the Greater Joburg metropolitan area.

Best of luck.

Tim

Hello!
Also, try googling ''hiv support group gauteng'', theres a few options. Wits University has a support group for Hiv Gay and Lesbians. Maybe a good way to meet others who are positive is to join a nonprofit organisation that provides support to children. I work in a pathology lab so I get to meet patients who are also positive and coming in for V/load and Cd4 tests-so I dont tend to feel like Im the only one living with Hiv. If you are Gay then I can recommend you pop into a CNA and buy some gay magazines and newspapers-thats a great way to find out news of support groups and adverts from people looking for Hiv+ friends. If you are a member of a medical aid then find out about the support system they offer, maybe they also have a support group meeting
Have you contacted Lifeline,as Tim Horn suggested? did they offer good advice?
All the Best
