Life Insurance Bruhahah
« on: March 03, 2012, 03:20:39 pm »
Okay I'm 21 have a great job, but don't qualify for term life yet, which once i do in a year will be a no questions asked policy. I need about 50k to cover student loans that my mother cosigned with me on and for burial. I know I'm not dying. I feel really healthy. But since I have HIV it would make me feel safer if I had something set up in case of me getting sick and dying or a freak accident, who knows? lol. But I've been denied by several insurance companies? Any suggestions of companies that will cover you if you're positive, i'm open to other types of insurance other than term, just something to cover the expenses. I swear I'm not morbid, I have a durable poa, and a last will and testament also. Lol. It's preparedness!

Thanks so much!

If you cant get insurance perhaps try looking at it like you are going to live a long life .

You can prepay a burial plan and since you are young and have a great job you can take what money you would spend on high risk insurance and put it into an IRA or some other retirement plan . Do the math and you may be shocked what a 21 year old can acheave even with modest savings into a retirement plan invested over 25 years .

Many of us older guys that have been poz for 25 + years wish we had done what I'm asking you to consider .

I wouldn't worry too much about Whole or Term Life Insurance at your age  ;) I can tell you that most of them are a rip-off (at least the ones with health questionnaires)
and even if you have teh AIDS your not gonna get a very big policy.

trust me, I know once they do a prescription medication search on you, they will disqualify you, ( that's if your on AVRs)

I had this happen to me after having a 20 yr. Term Policy, so now that it isn't any good, I have to find a lower amount one for 5K (these don't require any health questions) and are payable upon your death after 18 months to get the full face value.......

I'm sorry to inform you that your not gonna get anything larger than 5K with teh AIDS...you might wanna do what was suggested to you above, hey your young & 21 yrs. old  ..also look at some pre-need-burial plans, most funeral homes offer these..................oh and one more thing, enjoy your youth, sounds like your gonna be around for a very long time........Good Luck  ;)

You should be able to get life insurance through your employer.  Usually if you sign up upon hire, there are no health hurdles at all.  Check with your benefits folks - though you will likely have to wait for open enrollment season.
