Is it an Hiv exposure??
« on: May 15, 2023, 12:04:52 pm »
Dear Allen,

I had an incident last week that i had some foreplays with one lady who's HIV status is unknown. We didn't had any penetrative sex. We just had closed mouth kissing and i licked and sucked her breast for 5 minutes. She was married long back but never had a baby. I didn't feel any taste of any secretions from her breast. But now i am thinking if she had any nipple discharge which i might had ingested. As she had 2 partners with whom she had condomless sex. Do you recommend any test or can i move on with my regular life?? Kindly advise me.

Read your post three times, what you posted here wasn't an HIV risk.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Dear Jim,

I would like to have your opinion on my last encounter with a lady with unknown Hiv status. We had deep kiss for 2 minutes and i sucked her breasts for some time. Laster she did fingering for herself and with same hand she masturbated me also. She touched my urethra. I am sure she had some vaginal fluid in her fingers. Post 1 week of this incident, I started getting sore throat and ended up with body pain and fever for 3 days and still going on. Are these symptoms of primary Hiv infections? Should i have a test later on?? I am married, will it be ok for me to have an unprotected sex with my wife??

Thanks,

Short version, kissing, masturbation and sucking her breasts isn't an HIV risk to you and whatever is making you sick has nothing to do with HIV from the concerned encounter.

We had deep kiss for 2 minutes and i sucked her breasts for some time. Laster she did fingering for herself and with same hand she masturbated me also. She touched my urethra. I am sure she had some vaginal fluid in her fingers.

A few things to note: firstly, the fluid a woman produces when sexually stimulated/excited comes from the Bartholin's glands; this is a lubricating fluid with no more HIV present than other bodily secretions such as saliva, sweat or tears.  Saliva, sweat and tears are not infectious fluids.

The vaginal fluid you are concerned about is found deeper inside. However, even if a small amount was on her fingers, and that's doubtful, HIV is fragile and limited in how it's sexually acquired; it's acquired inside the confines of the human body and not once exposed outside the body as the receptors needed to infect corrode next to several other barriers.

Also to note is that saliva does not contain viable HIV and is actually hostile towards HIV, breaking down the receptors needed by HIV to infect. As for the sucking her breasts,  ill presume the fear is because of the breastfeeding HIV risk. So the entire mechanics of breastfeeding and HIV transmission means at its peak for an infant via oral digestion with their underdeveloped immune system and developing tissue, the odds of acquiring HIV is about 0.00064 per litre of breast milk ingested. You, however, are an adult, not an infant, and neither are you consuming large volumes, at worst a drop, so you had zero HIV risk from this activity.

Nobody here is going to tell you that condomless intercourse is safe; it's not, and I'll mention the same thing I always do when someone says they are in a relationship. If you engage in condomless sex with your partner, you are obviously at risk of acquiring HIV. In relationships, condomless sex is often based on trust or past test results; however, this does not prevent HIV, so if condomless sex does occur, you should consider testing more frequently.
