One month on Study drug...
« on: November 15, 2006, 04:59:01 pm »
Hello Everyone,

Today is the one month mark on the study drug, GS-9137. The first two weeks were not bad; mild nausea, mild diarrhea, a stoned kind of feeling in my head, and vivid dreams. Week three the nausea, and diarrhea became worse, and I started vomitting.

In week three I also had the weird hallucinations, and phone calls that I made during the night which I can not remember. The doctors think it is the Ambien. I stopped taking it, and so far the weird stuff has stopped.

Week four was better. Nausea very mild, no vomitting, still have some diarrhea, stoned feeling is less, but the dreams are still pretty vivid.

I made the mistake of scheduling my pentamidine treatment (pcp prophylactic) today before my study appointment. I have to fast for the study appointment. So between the deep breathing with the pentamidine, and not eating I almost passed out. Once I got some food in me, I felt better. Shaky, but better.

My set of labs drawn last month before starting the GS-9137, are as follows:
cd 4- 9
cd 4%- 3.2
vl- 176,000

All the others labs, with the exception of the hemoglobin (which is 10.5; normal for women is 12-14) are really good. I knew about the anemia, so that is not a surprise.

I have the genotype and phenotype results; they are not good, but again I wasn't surprised by that either.

So, not good, but not over yet. I will keep fighting this little f*cker as long as I can. I'll keep you updated on things are going.

Thanks for listening.
Christine

Hey Christine,

It is good to hear from you. I am also extend my BEST wishes that your Viral Load decreases and that your cd4's increase with this study that you are on.

Do your BEST to remain "positive" at all times as it does have a "positive" effect on your immune system and Yes, you guees it right...the "negativity" has an opposite effect.

Make the BEST of each Day!
