DO I TRANSMIT HIM HIV?
« on: August 11, 2023, 08:11:02 pm »
Hey, I'm on Dovato, and the last time I tested (7.6.2023), I had a viral load less than 30 and CD4 1087, and I've been unditactable for almost 2 years.
One month ago, I was using crystal meth by injection, and I met a guy after missing my treatment for 3 days. I was the bottom, and we used a condom, but I did a booty bump before the penatriation, and I am afraid that this damaged the condom. (Can meth damage a condom?)
Now that I'm stressed that I transmit HIV, can my viral load become detectable after missing treatment for 3 days?
How many days without treatment does it take to become detatable again?
I'm now one month clean and waiting to get into rehab.

Hiya,

You did not sexually pass on HIV during the abovementioned encounter and activities.

I'll keep the answer short, virological failure after treatment interruption takes a few weeks, with some exceptions taking nearly six months, not three days.

Was skipping the three days a once-off, or is this a more frequent occurrence?

Glad to hear you have been able to abstain from drug usage and are ready for support. Take it easy, and should you need support from us, we're here for you.

Thank you for your fast response!
This is not a once-off... I am 25 years old, and in the last year I have been in the rehab process, and I was clean for 150 days after using every day. And now, in the last few months, I started using again. From the last date that I tested (7.6.2023), I used it twice, so I missed my treatment for 3 days, once in June and one month later in July. This is why I visit my doctor every 3–4 months, even if I am undetectable. I will get tested again this Wednesday; if it's okay, I will update you on the results here.
If everything comes back okay, there is no chance that I risked this guy I met on July 24?

ojo.              Hello there!… I hope and I don’t get kick out at this forum… first of all, I don’t like when somebody says “I’m clean“, you are not dirty. I hope and you are able to get rid of that addiction that probably that’s the reason why you are HIV positive. I wish you Strength so you can take a vantage of this second chance of life.

I as Jim told you, there is not a risk that you have passed on the virus to your sexual partner, and I am sure you will be undetectable and you’re next lab results.
.. wishes you the best and please keep us posted.
