Please Judge my Risk
« on: June 22, 2013, 11:09:07 am »
Hi,

Recently i had sex with a csw , We had unprotected oral sex, Then we had protected vaginal sex, since it was my first time so i used two condoms. After sex i asked her if the condom broke she said no , telling me that the semen still stayed inside the condom.

Then i verified the condoms and found that one of them had broken while the other one was good(not broken), because of this the semen stayed inside the condom as told by the girl.

But since one of the condom has broken , I am freaking out , i am losing my mind.

can i assume that since one of the condom had not broken, out of the two and the semen stayed inside the condom after sex , i am risk free or should i go for hiv test.

Please suggest if i'm at risk when should i go for the test.

Thanks in advance

Hi Anxiety . You did not have a risk in this circumstance , one of the condoms remained intact and that is sufficient protection  .

The condom that didn't break was enough the protect you from exposure , if it had failed you would have noticed because they are designed to fail catastrophically when they break so there is no doubt that you had a problem .

What I'm going to tell you now is very important so read carefully . One condom is better than two , condoms are designed to be worn one at a time .

The reason one of the condoms failed is because wearing two condoms condoms is incorrect and can cause both to fail .

Let me ask you to think about this  , you wore two condoms because you thought if one broke the other would save you ... one broke and the other didn't break and now you are saying that  you are freaking out , I am losing my mind  . It doesn't make sense that you are upset that a condom didn't fail when that was your original back up plan .

Check out my condom and lube links at the bottom of me post , there is useful information there . Next time use one condom correctly and you will be good to go .

You didn't have a risk so you can relax now and move on .

PLEASE re-read MOderator Jeff's answer carefully. You did not have a risk but you must NEVER wear two condoms. The friction of latex rubbing on latex can - and often does - cause one if not both to break.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

Thanks a lot guys, your words have calmed my mind.

Today is the 31st day after the incident ,I think my mind is playing games with me i'm feeling tired no other symptoms ,i guess it's because of over thinking about the incident ,I'm very regretful of the incident.

The head of my penis was always covered by condom , Is it possible if the ring of my condom slightly slips down and some vaginal fluid comes in contact with the penis is it a concern for hiv. Because condom moves up and down on the penis, However the head of the penis was inside the condom throughout the incident.

Also i did a terrible thing of using two condoms , luckily one of them was alright(not broken).

Please Re judge my risk.

I'm thinking of having a test at 6 weeks which is 11 days from today just for the peace of my mind.I will update you on the results.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I just reread your concerns and guess what ? You still didn't have a risk .  ;)

I didn't want to leave you with the impression that you needed to test for the specific incident but if testing eases your mind then do it .

Thanks a lot Jeff G and jkinatl2 .

I read in one of your post "The average time to seroconversion is 22 days." .

Although i has no risk , Because of too much anxiety and stress i took the test today which is 32 days from the incident(10 days more than the average time to seroconversion ) .

The result was non reactive as predicted by you long before, Because i had no risk.

My Learning from you :

1. Protected vaginal and unprotected oral carries no risk.
2. One condom must be used at one time.

The only internet community that was helpful to me was this community.Rest of them said there was even risk with protected vaginal sex and  unprotected oral sex.

I am moving on with my life from now on. No further tests because i had no risk in protected vaginal sex.

Thank you guys for your help.

Hats off to your effort in helping the distressed souls .
God Bless You

You're welcome. All you need to do now to protect your HIV negative status is very simple. Use a latex condom properly every time you have either vaginal or anal intercourse. Yes, it is that simple. Now get on with your life.
