My name is HIV in your body I now reside,
here to do some damage, then find a place to hide,
I have a one track mind to fight until the end,
I'm changing all the time to fit in & to blend.
I do see all the traps, all the drugs out to get me,
they really thought they won when they made AZT.
I am an unwanted guest of yours, let in by your hand,
what's next for us, where do you think we stand?
Hiding is what I'm good at, you really have to look,
getting rid of me for good, won't be in any book.
It's a job like any other, one I love & have to do,
so don't take your pills, don't eat right, & see what I can do.
But, if you are up for a challenge & in for a fight,
take your pills don't miss a dose, exercise, eat right.
I really shouldn't say this, how you can keep me at bay,
listen to your Doctor, take your pills, envision a brighter day.
Believe it or not a positive attitude is the most important part,
not missing a dose, exercise, & eating right, you've got a head start.

Thanks for sharing with us. I loved it. A good way for you to put your thoughts into words, but a good, simple message about the importance of fighting back through meds and taking care of yourself.

That's very good Dave, I enjoyed reading your poem and was uplifted by it. Writing to the virus has been discussed over the years here and is a wonderful therapy I would say. Your writing is first class, thanks for sharing.
