Title: Stomach Meds & Treatment
Post by: Loa111 on July 12, 2023, 06:32:22 am
The Pharmacy at my ID Clinic always warn about taking certain over the counter stomach meds with our treatment. Specifically they say to wait 6 hours after taking our treatment pills before taking meds to ease an upset stomach, such as Rennie, Galveston etc.

Last week there were two separate days where I a very acidic upset stomach, so bad, I took Galveston about 2 hours after pill time both days.  This is not something I ever did before as I listen very seriously to medical advice, but too much spicy food the night before & my stomach was driving me mad.

I am wondering how bad this might have been considering it was two different days in the week, and a once off of me not waiting the recommended 6 hours?

I know that there is certain over the counter stomach meds we can take with our pills like Nexium, but there was none where I am right now & I could not remember the drugs in these ok to take meds to ask for an alternative brand.

I would go against the pharmacy advise & try to ease my stomach first if I were in your shoes. Generally over the counter & if don’t need Dr’s prescription is consider safe to consume within the daily maximum dosage.

One step further, let's pretend you, for whatever reason, totally skipped your meds twice. If you had, i would be telling you not to stress about it.

Adherence is taking your meds 90-95% of the time. Missing two pills in a blue moon isn't going to change anything and reading your posts over the years you otherwise have a near 100% adherence.

Relax.

P.s if the food doesn't agree with you, don't eat it. Or take the Rennie, Galveston etc if you wake up with an issue and need it but take your HIV meds later on that day.
