Lipitor goes on sale tomorrow!
« on: November 29, 2011, 08:56:47 pm »
Begining tomorrow generic Lipitor will be available in the United States.   The brand name medication should cost approximately $200 a month and the generic about $20.

The generic name is Atorvostatin.

Ranaxby and Watson are two manufacturers authorized to produce it in the US

It's interesting to say the least to see how Pfizer is fighting like a mofo to have its brand name drug Lipitor still be competitive with the generic version. They are throwing out all the stops to try to get docs etc to continue to prescribe Lipitor if they can still have the price competitive with the generic form.

I read this in USA today. I'm just happy that many people who rely on this med will now have a generic equivalent at a fraction of the cost. These pharmaceutical companies are raking in crap loads of money of these drugs anyways
