OK my situation is a bit touchy -- I need help on how to go about seeing a doctor and medication accessability.
I just got diagnosed poz, I am currently unemployed -- due to economy and cut backs, moved from Florida to "New York" that's my home town county of Delaware. Honestly just using that as my permanent address since my Husband was denied citizenship in USA -- I am staying in the Toronto Area.
So I am unsure what I can do, the only thing I can think of is apply for Medicaid in Delaware County and go back and fourth, that's if i get approved -- I really don't know what to do -- I have never been unemployed so need help from those in similar situations.
Any advise?

I'm wondering if you could use the Toronto address and get free medical help up there in Canada.

Following after Betty, . . .or perhaps you should talk to someone at the local (to your "home" county) Aids service organization. They usually will have someone who is up on the laws that apply to residents of that state / locale.

I have tried that link and joined and such -- however the area that is my home town is so rural that noting comes up, maybe i am doing things wrong or something.
Wow this is proving to be a challange.
I have talked to the Delaware county i just got to pray that they approve me. I really wanna go to a doctor and see how I am.

There should be support in your area of Delaware dealing with the Ryan White Fund, The Ryan White fund will pay for any doctors visit dealing with HIV or AIDS and either help you pay or pay for the cost of meds. Once you find where they are offering the RWF apply for a case worker They will help ypu with everything including getting a health card

Man I have never been so fusterated -- going throughing having HIV is bad enough but I am from a rural area in New York and everything is based in the city. I have called everyone -- if I dont live in the county then I dont qualify in another county. I have been trying to get some kinda assistance but its so slow -- I just dont know what to do

Honey, I think he lives in Canada, not the US state of Delaware, but has US citizenship and lived in Delaware County in (central) upstate New York.
djpj715, are you living in Canada legally or not? If not I would think that you need to return to NY state and obtain assistance there while you work on the legal issues of living in Canada. Accessing HIV services in NY state is NOT slow if you live where you say you live, in fact it's pretty instantaneous in terms of getting on ADAP, etc.

Oh. Well, that explains some things. Deleware is a tiny state and I was wondering why so much trouble finding services there.
