Girl I care about HIV+
« on: June 23, 2017, 04:16:30 pm »
Hi, a couple of questions. I am in the Tampa area and a good friend of mine is HIV+. She has very little resources and is not on any meds. She does not really know where do go to seek assistance. She struggles with some addictions. Would that prevent her from getting assistance?

Second question.  She would like to have more intimate relationship with me. I am HIV- and am not sure if that would be safe. I am not really familiar with the topic to make an educated decision. What is the proper advice for this situation?

She could reach out to a local ASO for support and help, ill include a link to the directory at the end of my post, and as she is not on meds condoms is a great start to start, "pep" if they ever break and consider perhaps "prep" as additional layer of protection, I've Included prep & pep links at the end of my post.

Ill give you my two cents, its not worth much but here it is, i'm not sure what the situation is but as you mention addiction (not what type) ill mention an obvious one don't be sharing needles !

To be honest if she is struggling with addiction and you are not and she wants help than help her if you can (emotionally, not financially), perhaps the last thing she needs however is someone trying to bed her or a relationship.

Word of advice she is the only one can change the situation regarding the addiction she needs to really want to overcome that and than make it happen and for a large part she needs to do it herself with the help of professionals.

Whatever you do wishing you both the best.
