MRI Follow UP
« on: November 30, 2006, 09:06:06 pm »
I went to see my doctor yesterday about the results from my MRI. She was able to go into better detail than the first Doc. There is a Tumor on my Liver about 2cm in size. It does also appear to be cancerous. She has made an appointment for me with the Oncologist, as well as the surgeon for the 12th of December. It seems that chemo is not effective on liver cancer, so the best option is surgery. I don't really know what else there is to say about any of this. I figure I'll wait until after the appt. tell the folks about it. No use worrying them until absolutely necessary. Norm is being tremendously supportive, and I'm thankful to have him in my life. Overall, I'm doing OK with this. I figure that after 19 years, something eventually has to give. So I look at it the way I look at pretty much everything else that happens, and that is this way: Either it will kill me, or it won't. How I choose to deal with it, is entirely up to me, and experience teaches me that anger and depression have always failed to improve a bad situation. I'll post more about this after the visit to the Oncologist. Thanks everyone for your support so far during this little fiasco.
   Capt.Carl.

If I had one of those lists Carl, I'd put you on top of it. I'm sorry to hear the news, and I'm wishing you the best possible results, and all the strength you'll be needing. I'm glad you have Norm and your babies there to help you go through this.

Carl,

Sorry to hear about the news.  If it is related to the chronic Hep B, then surgically resecting it would be the way to go.  You're in my thoughts.  Good luck.

Hi Carl

I'm sorry about what you are currently going through.

This can not be an easy time obviously.

Hopefully the Oncologist will be able to give you additional information from which you can decide how to proceed.

I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best.

I too would like to add to the good wishes on this thread. I have everything crossed for a good resolution to this..

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.
