No kidding it's a bummer of a first viral load.  But the CD4 etc is good, very good (same as mine).  Do you have an idea if this is a new infection or not? Viral load can take a while to settle down if it is. It's easy to latch onto one set of numbers, but it's the trend that counts.  Two or three more sets of figs and you & your doc can form a view on what's really going on.

How long since diagnosis? VL can be high for a while before it reaches its set-point.

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

Hello Angelofdreams, it is Eldon. Your CD4's are in a good range. Is this a new infection? Are you on any meds?

Hey Dreamer....

It seems like you've been here forever, but it's only been a couple of weeks, hasn't it?  You're just recently infected, right?  SO, yeah your VL is still high from its initial onslaught.  In fact, I'm suprised your t-cells are that high.  They seem to be putting up quite a fight.

After a few more labs then you can get a real good idea of where you stand.  Right now it's just too soon.

hey all,

it does like like ages robert,
and yes, only recently diagnosed so that probably has something to do with it.
guess it is all the fast food and alcohol from my younger years that make my tcells fighting back i guess.
do actually hope my VL comes down drasticly

Mixed bag...What did your DR say about the VL? T-cells are awesome..Hang in there man the VL is going to come down! I know it seems hard for you right now, but try not to get to upset. This will be the first of HUNDREDS of labs. It is always a rollercoaster ride.May as well strap yourself in, and ENJOY!
