Title: questions about tests
Post by: bachnt on August 22, 2007, 10:16:05 am
Hello everyone,
This is the first time i've posted in this forum,so please forgive me if i did something wrong or my English is not good.
So this is my question: i've had a test after the exposure about more than a month(i don't remember exactly). The result was negative, and the paper that the doctor gave me wrote: "       anti HIV
                                                        determine HIV-1/2"
please tell me what kind of tests is this?Besides,i've just had another test(the same kind with the previous test,at the same place) and it's approximately one year after the exposure, the result was negative too.Do you think the result is reliable?
Thanks so much for listening to me!

12 weeks would have been conclusive. You are negative.

thanks so much,rod.
did you mean 12 weeks would have been conclusive so my result is completely reliable?

Hi everyone, it’s me again…
Never thought I’d be back, but I’m really confused now.
Yesterday, I went to a massage parlor and she gave me a blowjob while I was fingering her, and then made me ejaculate by a handjob. I’d never worry about it if I didn’t find that there was a open cut or abrasion on the head of my penis (I don’t know it was bled or not). One hour after that, I came back home and then washed by soap carefully.
I am worried that I may have contracted HIV through:

1) The unprotected oral sex and received a handjob with a open cut or abrasion on the head of my penis.
2) I fingered her and then constantly rubbed my face. I’m wondering that HIV can be transmitted through eyes, bleeding pimples or capillary vessel in nose. I’ve read the lesson on Transmission and I know that HIV can’t be transmitted by this way. But there are many forums in my country said that it’s possible for transmission. That is the reason why I’m so confused now…

RapidRod, Ann, Andy, please help me... I am really worried and would like to know if anyone in this forum thinks I should test for HIV in 3 months?  Was I at risk?

Thank you very much.

Read the lesssons on transmisson. You can find the link in the "Welcome" thread.

Yes, I've read the lessons already. But I still worried and want to hear from you.
I just want to confirm what I've read is correct. Please give me your thought, I can't put it out of my mind, and maybe can't go on with my girlfriend...

Bach, in the entire history of the epidemic no guy has ever gotten infected from getting a blowjob, so I feel secure in saying you aren't going to make history by becoming the first. And that includes with nicks, pimples, bruises and whatever on your penis. It just doesn't happen that way. Ever.

The other details you're concerned about are also not a risk for transmission. HIV is a fragile virus which requires a very receptive setting in which to be transmitted. What it comes down to is that unprotected intercourse whether vaginal or anal are the royal road to transmission. That's why it's essential that everytime you have intercourse you need to be using a latex condom.

You are worrying needlessly. And by the way, you and your girlfriend should be using condoms unless you are in a securely monogamous relationship in which both partners reliably test negative at the same time.

Hi Everyone,
Just one more question: Is it possible for HIV transmission through oral sex if my penis has a small cut and there was blood in the performer's mouth?
Please tell me the truth...Thinking of this makes me almost crazy!

No. Saliva contains substances which inhibit the virus. You cannot contract HIV from receiving a hummer, even if there is blood in the other person's mouth.

bach,

You had two tests that test for hiv1 and hiv2 antibodies. Your results were negative, which means you do not have hiv.

For more information about hiv tests, go to the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) and follow the Testing Lesson link.

Dear all,
2 weeks after receiving a blowjob with a wound on my penis, i'm now having a terrible sore throat and muscle pain. Is it HIV related?
Now i'm taking antibiotic (spiramycin) for my throat problem. Does the medicine have any influence on the testing result if i get tested?

Bach,

How could it be hiv when 1 - you already have a negative hiv result and 2 - getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection. Never has been, never will be, no matter how cut your penis might be. You won't be the first in the history of the human race to become infected this way either.

Antibiotics do NOT affect the results of an hiv antibody test.

You don't need to test over a blowjob anyway.

Hello all,

Last week I had a hair cut and the barber made my pimples bled when shaved my face. The problem I concerned is the barber picked up the same razor that used for the previous clients. Is it reasonable if I worry about HIV contraction in this manner?

No, it's not reasonable at all.

Hi experts, sorry to bother u with my questions.

Again, question is about my symptoms. 2 weeks after receiving a blowjob, I've got a serious sore throat. Since then, it came back time after time and worse although I've taken antibiotics. Is it HIV related? I've got an antibody test at nearly 7 weeks after the exposure and it came back negative.

Bach,

You are hiv negative. Getting your penis sucked will not change that fact.

If you read the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) like you're supposed to, you would have read the following:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned. You did not have a risk for hiv infection in any of the activities you bring to us.

You ARE hiv negative. See your doctor about your sore throat. Whatever is causing it is NOT hiv.

Dear experts,

Last week I had a rapid test, the results was negative. But the problem is, before taking my blood; the technician did not replace the old gloves which used for the previous client. After that, I noticed that he touched the needle and put it in my vein (almost the whole needle get in because my vein was difficult to get).  And more, I knew that the previous client had just tested poz.
I am extremely concerned about this as I am worried he may have transferred blood from his finger onto the needle or to my skin when felt around for a vein.
Do you think this is a significant risk? What should I do now?

Bach,

This is essentially the same kind of deal you've presented before over the last few months..."the barber and the reused razor" and the "tester who didn't change gloves" etc etc.

No, this isn't a risk situation for HIV.

You've been here for a few months...plenty of time to have read the transmission information in the Lessons section and know better.

Well Thunter,
Thanks for your reply. And by the way, would you mind telling me why what i've said is not a risk for Hiv transmission? I think it's a risk because it's blood to blood contact  - one of the transmission ways, right?
Thanks,

Bachnt.

bach,

Do you seriously believe that the technician would put you at risk? They're not in the business of transmitting hiv.

Besides, what you describe is NOT "blood to blood" contact. Blood to blood contact would be something like you using a syringe to inject drugs immediately after an hiv positive person used the syringe to inject drugs. When people inject drugs, first they pull the plunger back so blood shoots up into the syringe, to ensure they have a vein. Some of this blood will remain in the syringe and if you use that syringe immediately afterwards, you will be injecting their blood directly into your blood steam.

What you describe with the gloves is in NO WAY blood to blood contact.

You've already been warned about repeatedly posting over no-risk incidents and/or conclusive negative test results. I'm warning you again and this is the LAST warning you will receive.
