Guidelines and Rules for Research on HIV data on forums
« on: October 21, 2017, 07:04:40 pm »
I am interested in working on a research project based on the data available on this forum. Are there any guidelines, rules and regulations regarding obtaining the data from this community, which the Moderators can point me to? As general guidelines mention that the data is open to the world, and user anonymity is supported, can the users be considered as unknown entities for this project? Thanks.

I would refer this question to the Administrator of the forum (Jim Dublin).

Jim also frequently serves as a forum moderator, so he will see your question and get back to you in an appropriate manner in due course.

Yes, there is a protocol for using these forums for research (or, at least, in seeking active input from forum members for research purposes), but I understand the nuances of your question (using information publicly available on the forum as a "passive" resource for research).

Jim will advise you accordingly.

Thank You! @Ptrk3

Could you please guide me regarding this @JimDublin? I am not planning on having any active inputs by community members (like polls/questionnaires), but mostly the data that has been posted and the community interactions. Thanks a lot!

Jim Dublin will contact you, I fully expect, after he reads these posts.  I suspect he will contact you promptly.  Give him a day or so.

I'll send him a private message about your query.
